Hello everybody! I've had my '96 Mark VIII for almost 10 years and I love it. My wife also likes to drive it. Now we have the opportunity to get a pearl white '97 LSC for $1900 bucks. It has 174K miles on it, but is in excellent condition. It has power moonroof, heated seats, Luminarc headlights, etc. Runs great and looks almost brand new. For that price, do you think it's a good deal. I know I do. In 2001, I paid $4000 for mine with 67K miles on it. We are still discussing it, but we are probably going to get it when we get our tax return. Basically, we're looking for a spare car in case one of our daily drivers breaks down we'll have something to drive to work. I'm looking forward to having his and hers Marks.

Need pics to really comment but $1900 for a second gen LSC in good working order is a good price.

my g\f and i have his and her marks. the only difference is that she actually drives hers daily lol.

I'll try to get some pics soon. I didn't have my camera when we went to look at it and there was snow everywhere anyway. But it looks great. No dents, dings, or major scratches. It is pearl white with a gold pinstripe. It has the chrome sawblade style LSC wheels. The interior is tan with no tears or cracks in the leather. And it's very clean. I'm going back to have a test drive next Saturday. I'll post pics then.

Awesome!!!! It's fun to share what you love with the one you love!!!! Post pics as soon as you get some!

Just an update. My wife and I are going to take the LSC for a test drive tomorrow. I'll post pics as soon as we get back. Should be after lunch. If it drives as good as it looks, we'll be driving it home next week.

Also, got another question. I have heard that GEN2's have transmission problems. I can't say since mine is a GEN1. But I replaced the 1-2 accumulator piston on mine when I first bought it and keep the fluid/filter regularly changed and have had no problems yet with 190K miles. So what about the GEN2's? Are they any different? Are they not the same 4R70W transmission as the GEN1's? Just curious in case I have a trans problem when/if I get this '97. Thanks.

So it is possible, if I get this car, I may have to replace the 1-2 accumulator piston. It may have been done, I don't know. I'll probably be able to tell by whether or not it shifts hard.

One good thing is that the current owner just finished replacing the blend door. That's going to save me some time and $$$.

Hell I just took my spring out. It was the updated one too. Not worth the trouble to replace unless you're already in there IMO.

..As long as it's the updated one, if it was replaced with the same one it came with, it will need fixed again in time.

Any pics?

Finally got a few pictures. Here they are. My wife is out test driving it right now. I drove it home and it drives great. The transmission shifts smooth, the engine runs smooth and powerful, and all the bells and whistles work fine. The only problems I could see are that it needs front upper ball joints and rear shock bushings. Other than that, it's fantastic. The heated seats are wonderful!

We'll probably end up getting it next week. The only problem is that it has a miss. The seller said he would have it fixed before we get it. It acts like a misfire. he said that he just put a new set of plugs in it. When I drove it home, it ran smoothe as silk. But when my wife drove it she said it had a "hickup". When I drove it back to the guy's house, it was spitting and sputtering the whole way. Especially when it was under load. I'm thinking bad coil. Either way, he said he'd fix it. If he doesn't, I probably won't get it.

Well, looks like we're getting the car. The skip ended up being a coil wire. When the seller replaced the spark plugs, he crimped a coil wire on the #5 cylinder and it was arcing. He said he will have it fixed by Friday. If it runs fine on Friday, I'll take it home.

We got it!

The miss ended up being a cracked coil. She's runnin like a sewing machine now. Now all I gotta do is make it sound like my '96. I need to get some rumbly mufflers. My wife wants it to sound like a hot rod.
