I'm going to paint the Aquamarine 93 to a deeper shade of blue, and I'm going to try out the Duplicolor paint this time. I can't decide between this color:

Or this color:

Try both. One on the drivers side and one on the other. :D

Deep would look sportier and midnight would look classier.

I thought you were selling it.

I am, if somebody comes with cash before I start this, it's gone. They're not bringing in any interest down here much. Which is why they sell so cheaply. So since I have very little invested in it, I might as well play with it a little bit, make it look nicer, who knows, one of you may want it. :) I'm feeling the midnight blue more as well. No stripes though. I don't think Marks look well with stripes. Blue with black interior.

IMO, Midnight Blue with a Black interior, timeless classieness.
after all, it is a Lincoln Mark VIII.

Midnight but lacquer?

I always used acrylic enamel on mine Greg. Not saying it's the wrong paint but I have never sprayed it. I guess it all works the same. I'm surely not an expert in the painting field.

I think the Duplicolor Paintshop paints are a perfect choice for this particular project. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

should work fine. It won't hold up as well as a base clear job, but neither cost as much either.

laquer used to be the :q:q:q:q, all the cars from the 60's and 70's that had the best paint jobs were laquer. its great if its sprayed correctly, and buffs out really nice too, no need for clear coat with laquer, but again, it has to be sprayed correctly.

I figure I can't go with the Duplicolor system. I suspect it's a lot better than it was in the 60's. I will be using a clear coat though.

Which color did you decide on?

Just dont let it turn out like that Mustang on Muscle Car the other week. They did the same blue but mang did it look like crap! There was no shine and it was ruff as fock. I couldnt believe they got away with such a crap job. No way Rick would have let that fly.

i saw that episode the car looked like ass. it was dull and wavy as hell. unless you mix wet look hardner with that paint its not gonna dry glossy. but, you can put clear over laquer, you just have to wait you cant do it right after you paint it.

Midnight blue.

My first car was a 1974 Olds Cutlass 442 that I stripped to bare metal then painted midnight blue...great color just make sure your bodywork is pristine otherwise go with white or someother light color.

I painted my car with TCP laquer,(ebay 106$ shipped with reducer and hardner)laid down good, and has a high gloss,in a couple of months im going to scuff it and clear coat it.possably put a blue pearl in the clear not sure on that yet.I shot my motorcycle with the duplicolor, looks good, paint flowed out real good,it took a full quart to paint the bike though.thats the only thing i didnt like about the duplicolor.but the blue should cover alot better than white going over gray.

I've read that it can be thinned out. What would the ratio be? 1 to 1? 2 to 1?

Its already thinned out enuff.but if you have to or need to add 1 part reducer to 2 parts of paint.mine shot out good right out of the can.but with cooler temps you may have to reduce it to get it to flow good.
