for the car audio guys...

Boston oval sub. /thread

It will handle whatever you throw at it, its super lous, plays super deep and the clairity is just spot on. I love my G5 sub but the oval sub is just so much better I am going to upgrade to one. :)

the 555? I was looking at that too. didn't see one that was able to be wired at 1 ohm. Only saw single 2 or single 4 ohm vc's.

SX's are nice. But those are expensive on that site.

Also did umean 1000 a piece? Or around 1000 total. Because those SX's will want 1k plus each easily.

those RE's are great subs Pete. like mentioned prior though, it does seem expensive on that site though. i'm lucky that i have a "wholesale" distributor around me way that hooks me up with all my audio stuff.

link to purchase them cheaper?

And yeah, if I got that one, it would be that one only.

sry, i buy everything locally. i've never even researched subs online because i know i can always get them cheaper. the RE's have always been a sub i would love to own. at one point i was going to put 2 18's on my cousins car but the box needed was insane. it's almost as bad as the kicker X sub. anyway, i'm just rambling now. I know that you want to keep it on the low end as far as cost, so just know that this isn't something i'm recommending to you, but check this sub out Here
my friend bought 2 of these at the spot i'm telling you and he got them for $1200 each. he ended up just using 1 since it knocked considerably well for a 12". that thing only weighs 16.6lbs dude.
I say go for the RE, although i do not know of that particular one, i've only researched the larger units

Yeah like the XXX series? 2000w rms. 900 bucks too.

I actually looked at the MX series too, but that's mucho dinero as well.

It also says I can use the SX series in a sealed enclosure for better SQ.

Oh, and check the price locally on that RE sub. I'll send you the cash to pick it up and ship it :D

Need a recommendation on a dual 2 ohm 12" sub that can handle 1200rms daily. I don't want to spend money on a name, but if those major brands offer something competitive, I'd be interested to look at it.

This is the closest thing I've found so far, though it's only rated at 1000rms:

the DC level 5 is THE loudest production subwoofer available in the world period.

It was a rhetorical question lol. My parameters do not include $1000 subs.

And my amp is nowhere near strong enough to power that thing. My amp will do 1200rms x1 @ 1 ohm.

Amp is a Directed d2400.

Maybe 2 of the RE SEX 12D4's. That would fulfill my requirements too.

Extremely doubtful Lol. I didn't see a price but I'm guessing in the 2-3k range. Its too damn heavy though

not quite..only 1k my friend is a co-owner of Excessive DBs
they have one sitting on their shelf. they encourage everyone who walks in to pick it up lol

probably the best sounding sub ive ever heard, its has such clean crisp bass

Get a single 12" Fi SSD, or Fi Q. Both are great woofers and a good price for brand new.

Check out the classifieds @ caraudio.com and you can find some great deals from members on there selling gear.

Has anyone replaced the OEM bass speaker with new aftermaket ones and kept in the built in subbox? I have a blown sub-speaker.

i have. sounded ok, added an amp, sounded a little better, cut the holes bigger and molded in some 8s in the stock location and box ,sounded a little better, put in my 12's in a sealed box , kicked its ass. the factory enclosure is to odd shaped and resonates real bad. im working on a dual 8 inch enclosure that will mount like the factory sub but provide real bass and save your trunk space

could you use the same box for a lower watt sub as these 2000 watt ones or would you need a heavy duty box?

it depends on wut the sub calls for... some are best fit for sealed/ported enclosures but they usually have a specific enclosure size and type for the best sound. should b in the manual. most people think a 1000 watt sub is louder then 500 watt sub but this is untrue as you can only get a few db's difference with double the wattage. you would need a whole bunch of watts before you can start doublin up some decibels.
