Yo guys,

For the first time in over 5 years I am not at a dealership and can't change my oil for free. Gonna change my oil tomorrow in the driveway. I went to Wal-Mart tonight to get a filter and oil and was comparing oil and was wondering what everyone here uses. I am not bothering with full synthetic right now, so I dont wanna hear about it. I used to run a Motorcraft 820 filter and 10w-30 Motorcraft synthetic blend. Walmart had the Mocraft filter but no Mocraft 10w-30, so I went with what I used to run long before I had my mark and that was Castrol Syntec High Mileage. Always did good for me, so thats what I bought, but what does everyone else run?

The Walmarts here have Ford Motorcraft 5w20 Synthetic Blend for $12 for the big five quart jug or gallon, whatever it is! That is what I used and the K&N oil filter that I got from Autozone!!!

I just went to get everything for a oil change yesterday. I've always used Penn 5w-30 high millage, but they only had 10w-30 and said they weren't sure when they would get more 5w-30 in. I went ahead and got the 10w-30. Should I be concerned at all? I don't mean to hijack your thread Dan:-)

Auto zone told me that motorcraft 5w20 is what the computer called for so that is why I have been buy it! Plus it is 20 bucks at autozone and only 12 at walmart for the big jug!!

Dont listen to them. That motor was designed with 5 30 in mind. I dont care that Ford just sent out a new service bulliten, I have had a crap load of Modulars and 5w30 is what they like and what makes them last.

I used to use 10W30 but recently started using 5W30, and it seems to start quicker, run better, and get better gas mileage. Of course, it could be all in my head. I've always used Havoline. I don't think I've ever used anything else. And I use the Motorcraft FL820S filter.

I use royal purple 5w-30

Holy Bill Gates Batman! I wish I could afford RP. I use the Tech brand full synthetic 10w 30 in the blue 5 quart jug from Wally World. It has a SM API rating and only costs $18. If Valvoline is on sale for $21 or less for the same jug, I'll buy that. I usually use Purolator Pure One but the last change I wanted to try Fram's 6X.

I do Mobile 5w30 Full Synthetic and I change it either when it looks dirty when checked or 10k miles.

I had my last Mark at 113k that he ran regular oil in it. I switched to Mobil1 Synthetic and went over 209k and the trans quit. Still ran fine with the same timing chain rattle that I bought it with. So I stick with the M1 and pick it up when it come on sale.

I wouldn't run conventional as far as I do the Synthetic and I had one car with a questionable engine make it 100k with 10k oil changes no problem :)

5w30 royal purple with a puralator pure one filter. The rest of the car is slowing rotting to crap, but the engine runs like new.

I use Mobil 1 or Castrol fully syntehetic 5W30 or 5W20, what ever is on sale with Ford 820S filter...

And how many of you guys send in used oil samples to see if you can extend your oil service intervals? I ask because 3000 miles is nothing for oil, nowadays.
Meh, I just change it when the computer wants me to. I figure with the blower that 4000 miles is about right. Oil is dark but never gritty or foul smelling like fuel saturated. I am sure the oil could go a few thousand more miles but its an old habbit and has served me well.

I used 5w30 Royal Purple and I just switch to Mobile 1. RP is too expensive right now and I am not paying 9.98 a quart for the purple or any other oil.
