I just got a call from the shop that is installing my gears about a few problems they have run into. He told me that someone had been into the rear end before and had installed the bolts on backward. He did not say which ones (cover, internal etc) but said that they had to cut them off. How in the hell is that even possible?
Gem #2 was a rusty welded exaust. They had to cut it and are going to have to weld it back up. Guess what my next thing to replace wil be:( It must be about as much fun as when I finally got my steering wheel off and discovered they used loctite on the shaft.
I have a feeling that this install (gears, T-lok, fuel pump and driveshaft) is going to go from around the $750 originally quoted to closer to a grand. Hopefully it will be worth it.

I have corrected a few other idiotic things on my car and still have a few more to go apparently.
 
The previous owner of mine installed a 4.10 trac-lok diff, OEM HIDs and new front airbags, a J-mod and improved trans pan, and gave me a pretty good price on the deal.. He just didn't wax it often enough. Can't complain.
 
Just got another call that the rear end bearings were shot. No biggie as I wanted them replaced anyway. He is keeping them so that I can take a look at them.
 
a grand for that work is a deal. thats if they supply the parts.
 
Yeah, my cars PO had the exhaust full welded on and also replaced 50% of the front end bushings with crap versions.

Other then that he seemed to treat her right.
 
the guy told me that he didnt do anything but drive the car yet the resonator and silencer were gone, exhaust sounds mean a f*ck and i can light her up through first and second.
 
+3 on the inherited lousy exhaust. Mine had a lousy exhaust on it. It sounded terrible and was rusting out after just a few months. The install was a hack job. No breakpoint at all. Welded from right behind the cats all the way back. Then they even welded the damn mounts to the body! It cost me nearly a grand to get a good sounding properly installed exhaust on it. Otherwise I inherited some really cool mods too.
 
Wasn't that an LMS exhaust? Don't like them, either.

As far as inherited mess-ups, somebody had silicone sealed my master cylinder to the brake booster. I ended up buying a new booster before I'd realized the error.
 
Forgot about all my exhaust mounts being welded to the car. Ask SVO how much he liked that! :lol:

Lol. Yeah the shop that redid mine was not happy when they saw them. Made for a lot more work to repair it. Plus they cut the body where the factory mounts were on the end of the stock mufflers.
 
on my 93, someone welded cadillac exhaust tips on at some point in its life, the prevous owners told me that the back wouldnt air up for the last month they had owned it, looks like they took a speed bump or two without slowing down :(

however, the first owner had it for 100k and took great car of it, the last 57k seem pretty iffy
 
One of the owners thought it was a good idea to take a hammer to the engine....oh wait that was me. ;)

umm.... the previous owner superglued the cup holder with yellow glue along with other interior body pieces.

Dude, talking about SUPERGLUE... Former owner's g/f of my 93 ends up breaking the RESET & SYSTEM CHECK buttons from the Info-Center & she ends up supergluing them back on, only problem, they were frozen solid now! Had to order another one from E-BAY!

Former owner also has one major defect! Loves riding slammed cars & used to drive my car with the bags off while it would be slammed to the floor!
 
Ummm... the only thing I can think of is the cell phone holder stuck to the center console, and the mudflaps.
 
Umm the :q:q:q:q:q:q:qs never jmodded the trans.... infact they left the entire car dead stock... losers.
 
some one parked my car for 5 years in a field that was infested with mice car has just over 100k. damn shame. but i am getting it right slowley
 
I have a good one. My previous owner overheated the car. Primarily because the VLCM had failed, so the cooling fan wasn't working. Took it to Palm Harbor automotive. They had the car for 2.5 months. They were on the right track, but they were given the F4 p/n VCRM, for 94-95 models. This is because fords parts catalog had a mistake in the effectivity. They installed 1, then took it back and installed nbr 2. When that didn't work, they tried cut and splice. For a final coup de grace, they wired a relay harness into the a/c compressor system. They put the switch down by the hood release lever. When you turn it on, the compressor would run all the time. No overpressure safety or low pressure safety. What a hack job.
When I finally figured out the VLCM mistake, I fixed the harness at the connector and installed a used unit. Car started right up. Go figure.
 
previous owner put a wood dash kit in my car and now the pieces are breaking and warping from the sun.
 
Spray painted the front seats for the e bay auction.

Super glued the hosed up door panel together.
