correct, during daylight, mine come on, and stay on for 3-5 seconds then shut off. I thought maybe that would harm them, I wasn't sure. Like I said these are my first ever.
Also, do you mount the ballast? does it have to be grounded, or just make it so it doesn't flop around?
alax- do you still have the pics from where you tapped into the fuse box under the hood for relay power? I don't know if I will need a relay, but bought one anyway just in case.
This is where I placed mine. These are the fat ballast that came with the projectors and didn't actually let the headlight sit all the way back, but I then bought slim digitals and they were small enough to work. There were holes already there so I just used them. On driver side headlight, wel since i'm gen2 but yours may be similar, there is something grounded right behind the headlight. I just took the screw off and placed the relay ground on with that one. On the passenger side, there was a screw below the headlight that I used, kinda hidden but visible from below. Or you can just ground them both from the driver side ground and run a ground wire to the passenger side relay.
if this is the fuse box right behind the pass head light, you can also take the fuse box all the way out and inside the bottom(you have to pop the bottom cover off) there is a huge bolt that you can put a ring terminal on and get power right from there(you will have to fuse it since this is an unfused power point) and you can even hide the relay inside so it doesn't get wet or anything. eventually i want to pop some blade terminals into one of the extra relay spots and just use a factory relay to run it and make it look more factory, i really dont like when you can look at something at see a ton of extra wires going every which way
with the full sized ballast, it will be hard to mount it directly behind the headlight and have enough room for the headlight to go all the way back in(i barely had enough room for the bulb warning eliminators ) unless you mount them a little lower than the light but then it going to be hard to get a screwdriver back there to fasten it, the drivers side is much easier since you can mount it further back where the air box is/was(if you have CAI)
No, the kit is plug n play, just connect it to the headlights. The ground is for the relays. You dont have to use them but will ensure they wont turn off on you and have enough juice to work good.I dont have relays currently on my fog hids so they aren't grounded and have worked well so far
Very nice, looks amazing! But i've always wondered.. what happens to DRLs when you have a HID kit? I read they need disabling, but i would rather not get ticketed by anal cops.
i have 5000k DDM slim kits in my lowbeams and foglights...they work flawlessly, every time. i have the realys on each set for added protection, but i probably dont need them. 100% plug n play, just becareful of reversed polarity issues, drove me nuts!
DDM tuning has been perfect IMO in service and shipping, but beware, they stock out often - so order in advance! ...when i get a chance ill post pictures
