I started off with some red Bullit calipers that I sanded down untill the Pony was gone and then hit it with 4 coats (2 lite, 1 med, 1 med-heavy) of gloss black (wasnt initially planning on using clear). Then I layed down the Mark VIII badge I had made and re-sprayed the whole caliper silver with the same coating as the black. After I peeled off the decal it looked good but the badge lacked depth and I was worried about scuffing them putting on the wheels. So I put on three coats of high temp clear and am just really happy with the results. :)
They have a metallic flake look to them and are very shiney even though the pics dont show it well. When I install them and take some pics in natural light they may come out better.

Here are the products I used in conjunction with 800, 1500 and 2000 gritt sand paper.

Im sorry, must have forgot to put that in my first post..... :p

They are Bullit calipers. For some reason Bullit calipers are $50 less then Cobra calipers and they are identical.

Did you already do this to one of your Marks?
 
Just have to have the Cobra rotors redrilled to the Mark pattern and also you need to grind down the brake line fitting some unless you get braided lines like I ordered. Pretty simple really. :)

Did you just slot the holes or what? Have any pics of the rotor after the redrill?
What year cobra rotors will we need.

And wheres the installed pics????:)

Slot the holes?.... Oh, I see. No I had a machine shop redrill them for me. Kinda pisses me off too. The owner said its $60 an hour for machine work. So I figured $60. I drop them off and see a sign that says $35 minimum charge so I hoped for that but still figured $60 for the job.
The little Mexican machinist told me a price but I figured I just couldnt understand him and asked him to repeat that. He said "$55 por ea wroter". :eek: I said it took two hours to drill 10 holes? WTF? He showes me he beveled the holes and deburred them and all. Yeah, nice. I didnt want the holes beveled. :(
Owner came out and said only $80. Fine, whatever. I paid it.

As for installation pics they wont be installed untill Saturday because I am out of my house from sunup to sundown.

I would have absolutely lost my mind if someone beveled those holes. Like, to the point of buy me new ones, or I :q:q:q:q your :q:q:q:q up in return.
Calipers look superb, though!!
 
Thanks, Those look awesome, I am very jealous., but wont be for long, hopefully!
I'll be adding this to the list of mods that I wish I was able to do to my Mark.

Why is it so bad the bevel the holes, just a strengh issue?
 
Why the hell the guy beveled those holes, I have no idea. :confused:

Have you confirmed that he drilled them to the correct BCD?
 
It makes no difference whether they are bevelled or not. The shop that did mine did that as well, mind you with only a very small bevel to make sure there are no burrs to get in the way of the hub face or the wheel face, it all good. Thats why they bevel them actually, to get rid of burrs and make sure its flat (least thats what my shop told me.) $20 a rotor is still a good deal...

Did you bake them after painting? The Lincoln logo looks good (though a lil bit tall for me) :) I figured once mine start looking crappy, I'd sand off the Cobra words and do the same as you, and it looks like I'll try it for sure now. I'm going to try it with color matched calipers (same color as car) and silver logos...

No baking. Its all high temp paint and they will be baked after pad bed in. :D
