Another freeway story

Ripped camel. Just stop. Everybody. This is pointless.

Can't take the heat get out the kitchen!:D ;)

Seriously it's a debate and outside this debate I won't hold it against people, but inside the debate gloves are off. It's like buddies, I'll tell any of my buddies they are a jackass to their face, but that makes me like them no less. I just like to debate with them.

I love how almost every single time I debate less than half of my rebuttals are overcome. Actually most are ignored because people don't know how to counter them. That just spells victory to me. Being a lawyer is going to be fun. To me it just fine tunes my skills when this stuff happens. I feed on it :D

Look at the studies that came out of the cars pulled over most. In most cases it was cars for low to middle class americans. The only high end car that donned that list was the Mercedes AMG.

Ok? So, what is that supposed to prove? If anything, that just shows that there are are more 'lower class' vehicles on the road.

Statistics might prove something or, on the other hand, prove nothing at all. For example, you could compile a survey of cars pulled over by their color. On one particular year, those statistics could show that more red cars were pulled than any other color. Does that mean that the police had some kind of special reason at that time? No, means nothing.

Ugh. The same could be argued for when you see someone trying to kill somebody else. Do you just get out of the way or do you call the cops?

Also, the store doesn't really have traffic laws or lanes so you can walk around people whenever. If someone is in my way I say "Pardon me" or something similar. I don't plant my cart an inch off their ass hole and then shine a pocket flash light at them.

And lastly, if you shop at Wal Mart then you have to deal with a slow (physically or mentally) individual in front of you 70% of the time.

If I'm in the left lane going slower that the person in front of me, I'll pull right and let someone pass.

If I'm in the left lane, in bumper to bumper traffic, going the same speed as the car in front of me (usually faster than the right lanes in traffic too), I'm not pulling over for anybody. At this point, I'm in line, and am in as much of a hurry as the guy behind me.

I always have to keep a safe following distance too, because where I drive it can go from 70 to 30 real fast. Usually because of a rear end collision.

There is no passing lane only in bumper to bumper traffic, all the lanes are full. Tailgaters, and the slow drivers they follow, cause most of the accidents.

I am neither.:D

It just comes down to courtesy, if you're going 1mph more than the guy you're passing, speed up and move over. If you're riding someones ass and they're passing people at a reasonable rate, you're just a jackass.

Being a lawyer is going to be fun. To me it just fine tunes my skills when this stuff happens. I feed on it :D

Heh. Being a cop is going to be fun. If I pull someone over for following too closely, that's one of the few instances they're guaranteed a ticket. And if you rear end someone because you were following too closely, you're getting every ticket I can think of throwing at you... I'll get out the tire tread depth gauge, tint meter, etc. Driving in the left lane at the same speed as other traffic (unless every lane is slow going) will likely get a warning the first time, driving slower will probably get a ticket.

First let me say that I joined LVC because I enjoy all of the characters in here and I am not going to disrespect any of you at any time.

This thread on tailgating has struck a nerve with me. It is a subject that I am very passionate about. Can anyone in here tell me why their life is so much more important than mine that they feel the need to tailgate and put me at risk?
For example, over 30% nerve damage on my left side causing muscle atrophy and robbing me of my love of working out at the gym? How about brain damage causing me to have short term memory loss to the point where I have to write notes to myself and hope that I remember to read them? Or accelerating my arthritis to the point that it is degenerating my spinal disks faster than normal? Things that most of you take for granted, putting on your shoes, picking up your child, or just getting out of a chair can cause you so much pain that eventually you can't hide it from people that know you and, believe me, the last thing I want is sympathy but, the "tough to get old" attitudes and jokes wear pretty thin too (even if I am an old poop).
I have a life, it used to be a much better quality until I was rear-ended by someone that thought that everybody should get out of his way because his job of delivering several tons of gravel was much more important than my right to be in front of him.
We all pay for a privilege to drive on the roads, we all share the same responsibility to make sure that we are safe and to not put others in danger.
I feel sorry for those who can not understand what I am trying to say and hope that you stay safe but please, think twice before you tailgate, you might save someones life, even if it isn't as important as what you need to do.
I suspect that I will be in for a slamming, that's ok, I will probably have forgotten it by morning and, I won't debate this, to me, there is no argument that is strong enough to change what's left of my mind.

(The worst part was the loss of my fully restored 92 continental 8 years ago.
Here's what happens when a tailgating 35 ton gravel hauler can't quite stop in time. The five cars that were in front of me weren't too thrilled with getting pushed by the big bull dog either.)

It's not that people dont know how to "counter" your simple minded immature beliefs on road etiquette. Just so you understand, i'd would have rathered not waste my time trying to explain safety, common courtesy, the law, or any of the sort to someone with such disregard to anyone else on the road except for someone that wants to speed for the hell of it.

For the record, i could care less what you think or have to say about anything. Since you obviously have no idea what your talking about (you cannot get a ticket for doing the speed limit in the left lane, or for impeding traffic ((unless you are going slower then the speedlmit)_, you can only get a ticket for "riding" in the right lane when law permits its only a passing lane (everywhere is different) so i just want you to know that you dont "win" a debate because someone doesnt rebuttle your comments....i just know your a complete tool and what you think or say isnt going to change the fact that you are recommending people to break the law speeding, drive dangerously, tailgate, and cause accidents.

Now thats out of the way.

I could care less if people drive like idiots (as long as they dont put me in danger) or if people speed, but if i'm already doing above the speed limit and you feel the need to fly up on my ass with your highbeams on in some attempt to have me move or go around me in some kind of nascar like fashion, i will not yield to you, i will not give you room to pass, i'll will pace traffic next to me JUST to slow you down and even though i do speed nothing you say will change the fact that it is illegal and dangerous to highbeam and tailgate other drivers and causes accidents

As soon as someone does that to me, every single time without fail i will immediately back off the gas, go slower and if they are really nuts, blowing the horn, flashing high beams, etc, I will brake check the fck out of someone (let them hit me... in new jersey it is always your fault no matter what if you hit someone in the rear) so anyone that rides my @ss with highbeams will have that happen to them, then i will either take off and never let them catch me or get right behind them, turn on my highbeams, and ride their @ss right back. Nothing is that important to risk other peoples lives on the road, if you have an emergency use your flashers, have an emergency vehicle take or escort you to your destination.

Simple, people with money can afford lawyers, and lawyers can make a cop look like a moron for lack of knowledge about laws. Think I'm wrong on that, question a cop about laws and they don't seem to know many of them. Even more amusing is the fact they don't know how to analyze laws to understand every take on them. Courts and judges are put in place to decipher the law because they are up to interpretation. With that said if a lawyer knows how to logically prove or make believable that the law was either adhered, or was used against their client improperly, the case is thrown out and the judge is pissed at the cop for wasting his time.

Basically rich people tend to have the ability to fight back. When my car was damaged by an inanimate object at the fault of a corporation on a public road the cop laughed when I said the company was responsible. He said I had no clue what I was talking about. Joke was on him because I won that case with barely any effort. They tried to defend themselves, but like most of my debates I inundated them with so much information against them they had no way to fight back. They were in the wrong, and justice was served.

Ugh. The same could be argued for when you see someone trying to kill somebody else. Do you just get out of the way or do you call the cops?

Obviously you don't grocery shop. People will block the lanes, and then others will pass slowly and sometimes stop and turn to look at something right next to another person blocking up the whole lane. I'll stand there for a second and when they don't move, I'll say excuse me. Half the time they just move one step and there is still not enough room to get by. AHOLES!

Then I'll get people that will see you coming so they pull out in front of you because they don't want to wait, then they walk slow. I'll pass them and comment to them they are not alone in this world.

Walmart is a special breed and usually I'll catch a tailwind off some guy or girls mullett and draft them so I can get better MPG! :D

If I'm in the left lane going slower that the person in front of me, I'll pull right and let someone pass.

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR MINDSET! In bumper to bumper traffic all bets are off. Again it's all about logic. Unfortunately there are too many people that don't have the logic to move over when there is no traffic. They think the same rules apply in traffic or without traffic.

Traffic is a whole different ballgame and everyone just needs to learn patience. When there is no traffic and johnny jackass in front of me wants to act like a hardass that's what I'm bitching about.

It just comes down to courtesy, if you're going 1mph more than the guy you're passing, speed up and move over. If you're riding someones ass and they're passing people at a reasonable rate, you're just a jackass.

I agree with a lot of that, especially the whole driving next to each other thing (which is what I call playing friends).

If you pull over a lawyer and try to overticket him, chances are he'll turn that around against you. You specialize in serving and protecting. Lawyers specialize in just the law. They know the laws better so I'd put my money on the lawyer if you tried to flex your legal muscle at him.

Wow...

I miss driving in Europe... they have it right there...

It is really that hard to move over? Why cause all that grief for a 2 second lane change just cause you THINK he is in the wrong... Let em by and forget about it!

As for Lux... you sir are the reason for accidents and road rage... You sir, are a grade A moron if you think what you do is right, sane or helping the matter...

You can brake check me all you want... my brakes are better than yours :P

That sucks you went through that and I'm sorry your life has been altered that way.

I'm not condoning that tailgating is acceptable as in the right thing to do, I'm simply saying that all other things held constant, if a person is in the passing lane with noone else in front of them, and someone is coming up faster than them, they should have the common courtesy to either put their signal on to alert the other driver they intend to move over as soon as they can, or speed up and move over.

It's just being courteous. I'm not saying if a guy comes up like an animal and immediately rides your ass you should move. F that guy. I'm talking about if a normal individual gains on you, keeps a safe distance, but flashes his lights you should do one of the two things I mentioned out of common courtesy.

Usually when being a nice guy and trying to leave room, and flash once to let the person know I would like to pass doesn't work, then I think it's open game to tailgate that person.

It's not that people dont know how to "counter" your simple minded immature beliefs on road etiquette. Read what I read to the guy above you. I'm not saying if a guy is being an aggressive pompous ass you should move at his command. I'm saying if someone gives you a chance to move, but you decide to stay in the lane and hinder traffic that would be a dick move, and frankly you would deserve to get tailgated.

You obviously don't know the laws because you can be ticketed for impeding the flow of traffic! You can also get a ticket for going exactly the speed limit in inclement weather aka driving at a not reasonable prudent.

Since you want to act like a child and resort to namecalling I'm going to put you in your place, and let you taste your own foot. Normally I don't try to be too arrogant, but in this case I'm going to rub your face in your loss.

Moving to the right lane so faster traffic can pass isn't a law huh?

I especially love the 4th one because they talk about how it's a hard concept for some to grasp to move over! HAHAHAH! Yup those are all links to states that mandated what my gripe is as a law! So looks like you fail, and I hope that foot of yours tastes good.

look I even did this all without resorting to name calling like you.

So if I'm feeble minded and you lost this debate that makes you what?

Well, if nobody was tailgating, speeding, and driving with their high beams in my face in the first place...i guess i wouldnt have a reason to slow down, brake check, or do the same back. I should mention, i dont regularly do any of that. Hell, its probably been a few years or more since i've gave the brakes a nice SLAM to when someone was behind me....basically, dont ride my ass with your high beams on and your world will be a much better place.

What i do back is not right, never said it was...hell its worse because i knowingly do it on purpose back to the idiots that think its ok, (like i said i dont reguarly brake check people, but i have and i will, depending on the circumstances and the amount of stupidity/lack of care for other drivers the other person has) im more of the kind of guy to just follow behind you with my high beams on so you know how it feels. I dont like it, i cant imagine you do either. As far as road rage and accidents, i could care less who rages out into what, i generally stay calm in hectic situations where most people lose their temper. I get alot more joy out of getting under someones skin instead of letting them get me angry. I wont allow other peoples stupidity or actions control my anger and temper. I've also found when I keep my cool it pisses everyone else off more because they arent able to control my emotions and its alot more amusing to watch someone else lose it and let thier emotions get the best of them...its funny seeing how women act (on emotions) come out in a man...most people are very good at making a total ass out of themselves.

^^^^^dumb that is all I have to say about that

people would NOT need to tailgate if you got the f out of the passing lane.

^^^^^dumb that is all I have to say about that

See i would generally agree with that but the problem in my case is this

I generally drive 10-20 mph over the speedlimit on the highway and 5-10 over the speedlimit around town, everyday, all day. I hate when people go under the speedlimit and do things like read books, shave, put lipstick on, etc while driving, swerving, or wake up late and think everyone else should move out of their way because they dont know how to get up 10 minutes earlier to go to work.

Generally, in a 55 i'm usually already doing close to 75 or so...going around cars in and out of the left lane as i see fit. If there is a line of cars and im passing them and someone comes flying up my ass inches off my bumper when im doing 20 mph over the speedlimit already and with thier high beams on...not for one second will even remotely consider doing them a favor, being courteous, moving out of their way, or anything like that. If they start flashing high beams and honking inches off my bumper...there is no reason for it and at all and at this point they are lucky they dont get a handful of change thrown out my window all over the front of thier car...unless someone is bleeding to death in the car i just dont see the reason to be inches off someones bumper, flashing high beams, and beeping under any circumstance.

Okay Lux,

I really dont get you... You seem like a reasonable and logical person with some emotional and mental issues albeit it but still logical and reasonable :D

What I don't get is that you think cause you do 20 over I shouldn't have the right to do faster? You are governing principle for us speeders?

The REASON the LEFT lane EXISTS is for people to go FASTER than those in the right lane.... If I am going FASTER than YOU... MOVE!!!! Its really a simple concept.

I don't care if you are doing 120 in the left lane... If I get behind you, its not only common courtesy but COMMON SENSE to let me by so I dont HAVE TO flash my high beams or such other actions to let you know I am there... ;)

If you have never driven in Europe let me enlighten you:

1. 120 is SLOW and you will get tailgated with said actions if you are in the left lane with someone behind.
2. You are WRONG if you dont move/brake check/slow down and are actually disobeying the law
3. The flashing lights, horn and signal are all considered HELPFUL when a car is going 140+ coming up on traffic. You look in your mirror and nobody's there then all of a sudden there's a porsche! And you MOVE THE F#ck over!
4. The reason those laws exist, and WORK, in Europe and why they have less accidents and death than we do is the fact that they all REALIZE that its COMMON SENSE to move over if someone is behind you and a fast moving vehicle. What an incredible concept. They all work together and VIOLA! It works! Holy Crap what a concept!!!

Anyways... Lux I hope that I can come up behind you doing 20 over so I can graciously await your permission to do more than than...

:D

LOLZ

i generally keep it less then 20 over because anything more is considered wreckless driving. Im not saying i wont get over if someone is going faster, if i can i will, i dont ride the left lane and by all means, do as fast as you'd like. I'm saying if someone is inches away from my bumper, with their high beams on, im going to do as much as possible to inconvience them.

I'm with Lux, if you really need to go that fast just pass on the right lane, mwhen I go that fast over the speed limit I don't expect people to courtious, because I know I'm being an :q:q:q:q:q:q:q by driving that fast and people who like to flash there highbeams and honk there horns can go F themselves

You lost your money on buying that clue because I'm still not seeing eye to eye with you on that one ;)

If you intend to get over is it that hard to put your signal on to let people know you are not being a dick and that you intend to get over? You still haven't answered my grocery store comment, would you like it if someone just decided to walk really slow purposely in front of you? I'm betting by your mannerisms through the way you type you would speak up pretty quick. You come off as a take no :q:q:q:q type of guy and if someone else is purposely trying to hold you up because they want to take their time you would most definitely speak up.

If that's true that would make your whole point hypocritical.

Again it's not always about being a tough guy, it's about being courteous of those around you. I drive fast, and I'm not in a hurry. I drive fast because I like to, not because I'm in a big damn hurry. If someone drives faster by all means I'll let them pass because I'm considerate of others around me. If someone drives slower I'd expect them to move out of the way too.

I like how you consider a argument on the net like you do with friends..some people take this stuff way too seriously.

Believe me, I'm no tough guy....just trying to get a point though your thick skull.
Trying to compare shopping carts to cars is just plain stupid.
I never heard of anyone being charged with manslaughter with a shopping cart.
Your in a car you can kill somebody.

If I am going the speed limit passing slower cars I don't have to do anything.
I owe you nothing, I don't have to put on my blinker to let you know I might move over at some point. Just slow down and get off my a$$ and when I get past the slower traffic I will move over.

Most people will, but if you tailgate and flash your brights your inviting all sorts of $hit to come your way.
That is what the point greenlinc was making in the first post.
Slow the f@uck down and get off my a$$.

You told him he was wrong.
Well he is 100% in the right, someday you might understand this

The reason those laws exist, and WORK, in Europe and why they have less accidents and death than we do is the fact that they all REALIZE that its COMMON SENSE to move over if someone is behind you and a fast moving vehicle. What an incredible concept. They all work together and VIOLA! It works! Holy Crap what a concept!!!

Anyways... Lux I hope that I can come up behind you doing 20 over so I can graciously await your permission to do more than than...

:D

Hey Stack I have a news flash for ya.
Your not in Europe anymore.

Slow the f@ck down... :D

Ok now that is funny! I'll admit defeat on the fail pic posting. That was f'n funny laser!:D

Your stupid and i didnt read anything you wrote.

Eagerly awaiting your reply. :)

They say that people resort to name calling and refrain from responding to things when their mental level has been exceeded. I'm glad you have admitted defeat in this way! ;)

You're right and these people won't get it. They just aren't bright enough. I posted multiple links to ACTUAL STATE LAWS that mandate the point we are defending. Nowhere does it say in the statute that staying in the left lane if you're going the speed limit is acceptable. It says to yield to faster traffic....that is exactly what we are saying. So regardless if those that can't wrap their minds around it get it or not, at least the politicians that are in charge do get it and have mandated our viewpoint as law.

ripped camel sounds like a stupid douchebag

drumroll........and through the smoke e-thug comes to the rescue! Don't you feel like a hardass!?

Sorry I didn't mean to ignore your post. Just so many to reply too. You're right I do consider people on the internet my friends in a sense. Obviously they aren't the same type of friends as the people I see in person, but I've formed many friendships with people on forums that I ended up hanging out with later.

My point to my comment about friends was debating on the internet is no different than in person. If I met you, or any of these people at a racing event, or car show I would debate the same way. Difference is I would like you no less for your opinion. I may respect you less, but I would like you just the same. I've got many friends that I know are dumb as a rock, but they are good people. I'll tell them I think they are dumb as a rock, and they say stuff to me. It's all part of communication.

I was just making the point that although your viewpoint might be varied from my own, that doesn't mean I'm going to drag that animosity into other threads and be a dick to you outside of this thread because I disagree with your viewpoint on this subject.

I see many people get heated and all butt hurt then take that into other threads for no reason. See you debating with me and calling me :q:q:q:q is in good fun to me.

That other dude savagecat that just jumps into a thread with no other intention than to slam someone is a whole different story. That's just being a mindless idiot.

But on all your points, go look at my 4 links if you get a chance. You don't even have to admit I'm right. Just look at them. What I'm arguing actually is state law in many states and is exactly how I worded it.
