my new mark VIII was originally from california my carfax says shipped there to the dealer and lived there for the first three years then on to seattle wa I heard that emissions are different there so does this mean my car will be slower???I know california emissions are always diffrent but how in what way, this will be my second mark VIII from there my first was a 93 but it seemed fast as my 97 if not faster

When a manufacturer builds a car nowdays (even in the '90's) they build it to a US emission standard, which is probably california standard since they are the most strict.

Your car isn't going to be any different just because it was sold in california.

I didnot see anything diffrent on my 93 mark from calif. or my 93 mark from virg. side by side everything looked the same, maybe difference in the cats like some people say but I doubt it

Now I have no idea if there is a difference between a California emissions equiped 1994 mark VIII and a standard Federal emissions model.

However as a general statement this is untrue. All new cars sold in the US have to comply with Federal emissions standards. Individual states are allowed to require stricter standards on new vehicles sold in their state. California was the first however other states have followed. Depending on year make and model there may be differences between the California emissions model and the standard Federal emissions model. Some small some not(i.e. 1988 5.0 Mustangs had mass air fuel injection one year sooner in CA then in other state where they still had speed density systems)

Uhhhh.... WRONG!

With the car "growing up" in a Socialist state, it may think it's different and expect itself to be entitled to various new parts.

Old ass thread , and yet nobody that replied seems to know exactly what a Ca car is...

It will probably want something shoved in its tail pipe:)

It used to mean more cats, then just a larger air pump or the addition of one. Latter it became a simple code change. Now its nothing as all cars are made the same.

What I think is funny is that Frogman didn't slam the first 12/16/2010 poster ... and newb the hell out of him. Instead was drawn into the posting.

I believe he's getting old...

Shut up you, or I step on your oxygen tube again.

Yes, I know, I screwed up. I'm usually pretty good about checking last post dates, but I was suffering from a severe case of Rectal Cranial Immersion Syndrome (head up ass syndrome), that day.
