Sold 2000 Lincoln LS 5 speed

170k miles (a few less as of this writing). Located in The Dalles, Oregon. Willing to significantly reduce the price to an LS enthusiest. Feel free to make a cash offer! Worst i can say is no. No trades, though... unless it is an AMC Eagle with 5 speed standard transmission. The good Lots of...

    Strut Replacement?

Car feels good. Happy with the setup. Not nearly as stiff as a 1rst gen CTS-V, but nice and firm.

    Strut Replacement?

@MacLincoln - I'm running the ASH24465 because i have a V6 with 'sport' suspension, and it is the spec'd shock for that (I believe.. although now i'm having trouble confirming that). I'm not sure of how they compare to the V8 sports shocks... , Ah, @GreyWisent responded similarly. I'll get...

V6 Sport Front Shocks - on clearance at rockauto, 12.30 each

Just to have it noted (in yet another place), I did end up buying the Bilstein 24026628 for the rear, and they appear to work well. (They are spec'd for the s-type of one year or another, but spring perch and mounting/bolt diameters is correct for the rear of the LS)

    Strut Replacement?

Ah, it is a manual transmission, so has the 'sport package' by default I believe. Went with the OEM fronts because they're on sale for 12 bucks each on rockauto (although oddly enough, the packaging says something like 'OEM gm replacement part repackaged for the aftermarket', ha!). Couldn't...

    Strut Replacement?

With regard to using the car to compress the spring/remove the strut-- I know people are against it and say not to do it. I'd never done it before and always used a spring compressor. And it was also a sh** show. Took a long time. Felt unsafe because the compressor was trying to slip around...

    Clutch job questions.

I used these instructions, and found that many bmw's use the same seal. You can look for a victor reinz P/N "81-24010-00". I don't remember the bmw p/n offhand, and there are a few older p/n's at this point that cross to the newest p/n, or perhaps this one will go bad, but you should be able...

    Clutch job questions.

i just replaced the pilot bearing in my lincoln. Took off the flywheel, used a socket that was the diameter of the inside of the bearing to punch the bearing out the back (outer race and all). Then used a socket slightly larger than hole in flywheel to tap new bearing in place from behind. If...

2000 LS V6 - Oil filter housing leak, fix information

It took me a long time to track down this oil leak, because I was blind to what was right in front of me. I cleaned the engine well, put dye in the oil, and yet still couldn't figure out where it was coming from. The engine block and head were dry (driver's side) above the A/C Compressor...

    Driveline Slop

And back off-topic for a moment, rockauto now shows a toe link (solid, non-passive steer) by Beck Arnely, but (in the listing of 2000 jag s-type) do not show the Lemforder part. "BECK/ARNLEY 1016784 {#XR813478, XR825750}"...

    Driveline Slop

04_Sport_LS, Thanks for the infos. I think i've swerved this thread pretty off topic. On-topic, i purchased some new CV's. I'll make some vids of the slop i'm seeing in the rear cv's in a couple different views, and then compare to the new CV's. I'll also report if it removes the...

    Driveline Slop

Agreed. I was trying to find CTS production numbers for its first gen platform, but was stuck with only V numbers.

    Driveline Slop

Oh, looks like Moog does have the rear lower full control arm assemblies. Don't think they used to, or I missed that. Still leaves the rear toe rod and upper control arm / ball joint stuffs that they don't carry.

    Driveline Slop

Lets go through this point by point 1. Caddy and Lincoln not similar? Agreed that that the caddy and the lincoln don't share the same platform. GM and Ford aren't known to work together on collaborations much. But LS and CTS are absolutely similar in my mind. Name any other rear drive US made...

    Driveline Slop

Its pretty clear where the slack is if you go under the car and mess with it. you can literally grab the inner cv stub, and move it without the axle shaft moving (~1mm per side). When moving the driveshaft itself, the stubs move but axle does not. you so much as touch the driveshaft, the axle...

    Driveline Slop

I believe have this problem as well (sloppy inner CV's) Clunking on fast shifts. When not pushing in clutch and moving between reverse and first (against syncro resistance) the driveline slops back and forth, clunking. looking under the car, you can rotate the driveshafte quite a bit and the...

V6 Sport Front Shocks - on clearance at rockauto, 12.30 each

MOTORCRAFT ASH24465 {#BU2Z18V124S} http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=3098847&jsn=232 (now the age-old question of what rear to mate with it, if you're replacing the rear too... I'm leaning toward BILSTEIN 24026628 (since the b6's are way more expensive) -- for the s-type, and...

Info for all Getrag (manual) riders.

@pragmatic, sorry- i disagree. The clunk only occurs when the driveshaft is changing directions (i.e. pressing from 1st to reverse on the syncros with no clutch). When pressing the same direction (first to second or third, etc pushing on syncros with no clutch) there is no clunk. Both of those...

Info for all Getrag (manual) riders.

I also have the clunk at shifting time (when shifting fast, not noticeable with leisurely shifting) and when putting in gear from neutral. I traced it to something in the driveline, post clutch/flywheel. I didn't think to watch the diff output shafts- as someone notes earlier in this thread...
