    It works!!!

Was at home and had a ballast, an old bad hid bulb, and a cheap hid bulb and thought, what if? Well here's the result. It ain't purdy, but it works! Well that proved my theory that an hid bulb will work like this, it really doesn't care what kind of voltage it gets, it is the supporting...

    Moonroof Replacement

After replacing 3 of these in 2 years I decided to write this experience down for future reference. It's not bad and can be done by one person. This is for a gen2 but should be similar for the gen1. 1) Starting at the driver's side, remove the A pillar trim, sunvisor, and pull down or remove...

my new sub $500 mark lsc

I like this..and was cheap to boot. It needs a trans as the fluid looks like used engine oil and won't go forward but will go in reverse. Even has the octastars although one is missing chunks on the lip of the wheel. I know the photo is crappy, it's monsoon season here

    Wheel swap

Ok, I have gone to the local Ford dealer and researched the newer evtm for a town car. I am wanting to swap the wheel and airbag out to a 99+ with woodgrain and eatc/radio controls on the wheel. I know I will have to have a different clockspring (got that one figured out) and an eatc module...

    What's Better?

I don't have a garage, and just a few shade trees. I am wondering if it's better to park it under the shade trees and deal with the Oak and Cedar tree sap or park it in the open sun and apply Armor All (well not specifically Armor All, I use the Meguire's Natural Protectant) on the interior...

    Key Swap

Ok, I don't like the idea of having to pay $20+ for a key and I really don't like the idea of having only one key so I decided to make one. Here's how. You will need: 1 PATS key from a 2nd gen car, this can be found in a junked car in the j/y or pull a part 1 Axxess 24 or 24R blank (Wal-Mart)...

    Mark viii/t-bird/cougar replacement...

Think about this Ford...to boost sales and to give us something better than some hum-drum fusion or bloated taurus, do this: Import this: new idea for tbird lx or cougar ls Import this for tbird sc or cougar xr7: cougar xr7 Import this for mark 8: mark 8 It wouldn't take much to...

On a 96, what's the black can shaped thing on the brake booster with a 2 wire connector on it used for? I couldn't find anything in my service manuals on it...just curious...

    Another post on "rough idle"

I made this post so as not to hijack the OP of "rough idle", so here goes....Mine does this too...on a cold start it will idle about 1200 for 20 seconds then settle around 800-900. The idle is mostly smooth with the popcorn popping sound in the airbox. No CEL, replaced cop boots and vc...

    Valve covers

Valve cover gasket swaps suck big time. Took me all day to change the things out. Had to swap a brake booster as well so it made it a bit easier to do on the driver side, but is there a trick to the passenger side or just use brute force making sure not to break anything?

    Popping noise in intake

I have a popping noise in the intake. It happens when you let off of the throttle after revving the engine from idle to about 1200 RPM. It isn't a backfire sound just a gentle thump you can hear in the air filter housing. When it does this, the IAC also buzzes. It will also let the idle lope...

    Ford Datastream

Ok, here's the deal...If anyone knows the delimiters for the scp datastream, can you share them. I can get converted from a normal serial port to scp (ie using a serial port to connect to the obd2 port and communicate with the ECM). I am looking for basically how to send the message center a...

    C head gains

I searched and didn't find what I was looking for, but what is the gain in using 99+ Conti C heads on a N/A M8? Thanks Joe

    HID Issue

On my 97 M8, one headlight is slow to come to full brightness. It starts off as a orange color then gradually goes to the bright blue/white that the other light is. This occurs over about a 10 second period versus the 1 second time for the other headlight. The other headlight doesn't go orange...

Giving a chrome look to peeled chrome on trim

I think I have come across a way to "re-chrome" the plastic trim that is below the headlights on a Gen2. However I have hit a small snag. This is what I did. Went to waldogs and got an emergency camping blanket ($2.97) and a can of spray glue (3m, $9.97). Came home took the driver's side trim...

    JBL Factory Amp Idea

I disassembled the discarded JBL amp in my 97 base last night and looked up the specs on the output. For the 4 5x7 speakers they are run by 2 1 channel 45w amp chips and the 4 3.5 speakers are ran by 2 2 channel 30w per channel chips. I have also figured out how to make very cheap (basically...
