I don't think I've ever heard of our SCIL's shorting out this way. Not even here on LVC. Did you recently do some type of installation/wiring? Something doesn't give. That's very dangerous.

Looks like your SCIL shorted out for sure. I have one sitting on the shelf. You will definitely need it. Your key will need to be reprogrammed to the new SCIL. That's the first time I've seen one short out like that.

Thanks for schooling me on that. Never had any idea but now I know. Just figured since the headlights work on Gen 1's without a SCIL, the same would apply for aftermarket HID's too. Isn't there a lamp out module in the same place near the glove box latch?

Terry, on the 2nd gens, the scil module controls the check headlamps message, and is not as easy to disable. Bruce I have put aftermarket hid's in a bunch of 2nd gens, with and without relay kits. Only 1 ever had a problem with the check headlamps message. I never could get it to go away on that...
