yes im ok thanks, its amazing i hit nobody or anything from middle lane 5 lanes going n i95 630 pm the whole car jerks to right (it was pass front tire) tight traffic doin 70ish. the generals everyone said they were junk, they rode great had no issues, its been a little over a year were supposed to last till i get new rims, now im re-thinking what i was gonna get to 18x10/9 speedstars in black. im liking the black-out look more and more. its gonna be a game time decision. still doing 18x10 out back.

ouchy. My dad had a blowout in my mark. Said it sounded like a gunshot. Glad everything turned out ok safety wise.

what, not really bothers me,but, when its prime time i get out, partially on grass hill sloping away from road on a hill (anyone who knows northbound 95 just past sample road exit just after eastbound sample on ramp at top of hill, blowouut, stopped in middle of downhill before westbound sample on ramp and crosswalkover, right side) in my wheelchair trying to do this, not a soul stopped, not even like ten cops, nobody. i called a friend who leftwork around corner to help.it was nearly impossible to take off old rim and put in trunk.

dang. People just don't care anymore. I have always stopped if it was a woman, elderly or someone handicapped to help.

After gettin jumped at a gas station by a ratherly large male (6'4 pushin 400lbs) (I'm 5'11 140lbs) I usually pass and hope for the best with guys.

I would've stopped and helped you out bro!

That really sucks man, glad your okay. Cops don't give a :q:q:q:q at all, i was in an accident about 2 months ago and we called 911 atleast a dozen times between us, the paramedics, fdny, and people that saw it happen, they don't care. We watched 5 squad cars and 2 cop vans pass over the 2 hours we were waiting for them to show up, i wasn't there when they showed up because i needed to be taken to the hosp by ambulance =/

Holy crap what a blowout!! Did you hit something? Or did the tire just shred? That's effin' crazy! Glad you're okay. Speaking of cops, I've actually got a good story:) After I installed my new rear shocks, I was driving home from work down 220 south bypass and started feeling a little odd vibration. So I pulled off to the side under the overpass where there was plenty of room. I got the 4-prong tire tool out of the trunk and started checking my lug nuts. A State Trooper pulled up behind me and asked if everything was alright and I told him what I was doing. He said that from his experience, most people wouldn't pull off and check those things. They just drive till something breaks! He said he'd stick around until I was done and then be on his way. Turned out I did have a couple of loose lug nuts (on the car, not in my head:D). He was very polite and helpful. A rarity these days.

the staties are the only ones who'll stop on hwy here, i know most of the ones in broward from when i had my bikes. the chief of the high speed pursuit squad used to eat at my resteraunt, and gym.lets just say hes helped me out a few times, but the city and county cops wont stop unless they stop you.

Holy crap, man!

Glad you're okay. I'd be suing the pants off General if I were you, and I'm not one of those sue-happy people, either. NO tire should do that. A blowout like that causing you to swerve at highway speed? If not for sheer luck, people could have died.

Wow, I can't believe no one stopped to help.

I've had quite a few blow-outs over the years (thankfully none that resulted in injuries or damages nor none in one of my Mark VIII's). Front end blow outs can be very dangerous.

That's one of the many reasons I want to leave South Florida. Kindness has been completely lost in this tri-county (Miami, Ft. Lauderdale & Palm Beach). People don't get involved in anyone elses business. If anything they laugh at your distress. Out here you are on your own. Not to say there are 1, maybe 2 in every 200 ppl that are willing to help.

your being very generous. there are over 1 million in broward closer to 2 mil in dade id say maybe 1 in 10,000! i actually when i made it to the gas station to check air in all tires and spare, some jerkoff actually said " yea i saw you there on the side of the road and said now theres a guy who can do things on his own i was gonna stop but it looked like you had things under control (this was before my buddy mike showed up)", i suppose its a backhanded compliment, but what do you say to that?

I was a supervisor for (MRT) Michelin Retread Technologies for almost a decade and and I dealt with all brands of tractor trailer tires. Michelin, Bridgestone, Firestone, Dunlop, Kumho, Good Year, General, Yokohama, and the list goes on. We would get these in by the truck loads of about 325 to 350 tires on a 53 ft. trailer. I am a certified tire technician with MRT and we even x-ray a tire where repairs had been done previously.

Now, the type of blow out you had is what "we" in the retreading industry call a "zipper" and they usually have a very loud pop for a little tire but something like an 11R 24.5 or 12R 22.5 would sound like a bomb had just went off. If the tire was going to "zipper", it was going to happen in the mold, while the bladder was inside and inflated. I have seen a 700lb mold jump 7 to 10 ft. off the floor and the tire would shoot out the top like a rocket and bust out all the above lighting.

Not sure how long you have actually owned the tires. Don't know if you bought them new or used or what but normally when a tire "zippers", it's because it has been ran flat or on a very low air pressure for too long or too far. We used to do all the US mail jeep tires and only had one of them blow like that. The tire can be put through a laser shearography inspection, which is another term for the (CIA) Casing Integrity Analyzer and that machine will tell the story about that tire. It will detect any separations in the casing from the bead to the crown of the tire.

If you happen to have an MRT close to you or any retread shop that is respectable should have the shearographer in their shop. They can tell you what you need to know. It only takes 3 minutes to run one tire through it. Any good initial inspector or final inspector can look inside the tire and tell if it has been driven on a flat or extreme low pressure. You can print this out and take it with you and let them know it's from someone that was certified on 13 different jobs in a hybrid MRT plant. Just in case they don't know what a hybrid plant is. That is one that does "mold cure" and "pre-cure" tires in the same plant.

A lot of people don't know this but a "zipper" on a tractor trailer truck if you are setting in your car next to it, can actually kill you instantly. I have seen enough of them zipper and when I approach an 18 wheeler at a light or even passing one on the hwy, I hurry the hell up and get by it and I never set next to one at a light. Drive tires and trailer tires can do this but it's mainly going to be the trailer tire because it takes more curb scrubbing than the rest. They even had to design a special inflation machine just to test tires before they left the shop. This was done to specifically check the tire to see if it was going to "zipper" or not. Let me tell you from experience... Not all shops inflate every tire and not every shop even has one. It's not a recommendation or law that a shop has to have one. Just something for you to think about the next time you pull up next to an 18 wheeler. It's one out a million but it can happen. Never have to worry about the front tires. It is against the law for any front tire to be retreaded and the chances of them ever being driven on a flat are very very slim to none.

Sorry for the long post but you never know, this could have saved someones life and you might even see it happen or have seen it happen.
