I've been away from LVC for about a month now because my internet speed SUCKS! However I came to my father's house to update you all on the latest! As many of you remember, I grabbed a beat down 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII from Rich & Elliot about 5 months ago that they trailered from Orlando, Fl to Jamie's shop with a ton of problems then drove home with a gas leak, broken windshield, paint looked like hell, broken sunroof, bad hood, etc...
Rich brought it home to me because I had the idea of keeping it at my grandmother's house as a theft deterrent(long story, my grandma lives alone). However everyone in my family told me this car had potential so every afternoon after I came home from work I dedicated some time to "the sh!t car" as so delicately named by Rich. I started sanding the car down since the paint was beyond scratched.
I purchased the missing "Intech" cover for the engine bay & capped the tapped hole on the cooling line. Took off the tail & headlamps from the car & started sanding away.
A few weeks ago we had a guy come over & finish the sanding process & he perfected all the dents on the car then shot a couple coats of primer & continued perfecting the surface of the car.
He finished by shotting another coat of primer & a last light sanding & perfecting of all dents on the car. Finally then washed the car then the fun began... & yes, it was all done in the back yard of my mother's house!
While the car was being painted Rich & I were in the Florida Keys. When we came by the house that night to look at the car we both jizzed our pants.
The camera does not define the beauty in the gloss of this paint. The people that worked on this car work for a high end body shop here in Miami Fl. They look for extra work on weekends & that's how I came accross them through my step father.
As you can see, Rich & I were just crazy about this car... Not to mention Sheri in the background & my wife.
These ppl were very meticulous when it came to painting the car.
The end result is just beautiful. The day after paint I went to the local tire shop & swapped out the ugly snowflake wheels with a set of chrome 16 spokes I had curtesy of my father. Then this past weekend I spent it with Elliot & Rich perfecting this car's interior(missing or broken parts, sunroof, etc...
& there she is next to my father's Collector's Edition. You can barely tell them apart.
I want to thank Rich & Elliot for making this possible. They gave me the oportunity & they saw I was good for it. I saved this car from becoming a parts car or just someone's beater & it will now be my wifes car thanks to them. Good friends are hard to find these days & these 2 gentlemen are truly great.
I gotta thank my parents & my stepfather for helping me with all this. I'm unemployed & yet everyone came through. The car is flawless. This coming weekend I will be having the same guys wet sand & polish the car for the final touch. I will post pictures of the finished product as well.
