it allows power to go to the steering wheel when the steering wheel turns. it feeds power to the cruise control switches and the air bag and the horn.
 
Clock spring is not hard to replace and the column is easy to pull. I have replaced the column, complete clock spring assembly including box attached to underside of column and cruise control buttons on my car. I am getting to know that area very well.
 
So we are about to do the system in Sappers car today. Its already after 3pm so I hope he gets here soon to get this chit done today. I have to mount 2 pairs of coaxials, the sub, two amps and the deck. Shouldnt take more then a few hours I hope.

Speakers were taken from his 93 as well as the deck and sub amp. The sub has been sitting in my kitchen for a few months as has the wire kits and the old DB Drive 4-channel amp. So hes pretty much getting a whole system for the cost of some wire and a dash kit. :lol:

Got the install done in about 4 hours cause we needed a safety meeting. All things considered it was a pretty straight forward install. Pair of Kicker coaxials in front, Pioneer coaxials for rear fill and a 10" Boston G5. Deck is a standard Pioneer 5100. Sub amp is a Memphis mono bloack and the front is an old DB Drive. Beauty of this system is the only real cost was wires. Was all salvaged from previous Sapper cars... well except the sub from my white Mark.

All new wires were used for all speakers. 12 awg for the fronts and 10 for the sub. Total system RMS is around 900 watts.

Rasn a dual 4 awg setup for power and all twisted RCAs. System sounds pretty dang good if I do say so myself! :)

is there any way to install a ipod jack on the stock stereo setup?
 
I figured there was a thing like that, Thanks. Does that = no working cd changer after the install?
 
Yup, replaces the CD changer. Just pulled one out of Sappers car for the new system so he has one for sale now. Works great.


The system does sound great. Much better then I was expecting with the budget speakers. Clean and pretty loud. I was always amazed how well that Boston G5 10" hits.
 
Wonder if they make one that has a headphone jack or usb as well as ipod like th one in my work truck so I can use my phone for pandora...
 
It does sound very nice...doesn't hit as hard as those CVRs tho lol.

The main thing i liked about my iPod controller was..you could control the playlist with the iPod and not touch the deck,oh well, now i need a battery for my decks remote, doing a ground loop mod on the deck and rerouting the iPhone wire to the usb2 slot on the rear of the deck.

Made that today, cd changer didn't work..and I don't like stuff rolling all over my trunk..maybe this will help a tad.

Will cover with trunk carpet on thursday
