ok so this might be a long thread, a few days ago sitting in traffic i noticed my 97 felt like it wanted to creep forward while at a red light and on the brake, i looked at the tach and it seemed higher than normal, so i popped it in nuetral and it shot to 2 grand, i revved it up higher and it came back down to 2 grand, the light turned green and i had no choice but to put it in drive and go, well i cringed as i shifted it and WHAMMO it slammed into drive and chirped the tires. so the next day on my way to work all seemed fine, after work it did it again, so i stopped and got a new IAC and put it on in the parking lot of the parts store, the rest of the drive home seemed it was fixed. the next day it did it again so today after work i went to my shop. i was gonna try another tps on it, and as i went to remove the throttle body i realized that 3 out of 4 of the 8mm bolts were loose. so after taking them out i see that the threads on the bolts are filled with aluminum, omg great the holes are stripped. i never touched the intake or throttle body since i bought the car over a year ago. luckily the intake wont be on for long so for now i put the bolts back and there is enough bolt that sticks through the back to catch a nut on them so it is tight now. what i noticed is my idle is lower now, but i always thought it was normal where it was, now i know it wasnt. the other things i notice which feel so strange because of how used to the car i am, is my throttle response is rediculous now, if i stab the throttle the car revs real fast and instantly comes back down to around 800 rpm, before it would take about 5 seconds to come down, now i swear its about 1 1/2 to 2 seconds to come down, and now when i am driving, the car seems to shift firmer in all gears not just my 1st to 2nd shift. and when i decelerate now, when i get down to around 40 mph or slower i can feel the convertor drop the rpm's to 1000 and the car gets real quiet it almost sounds like it stalled, but you hit the gas and the rpm's are there instantly and the car keeps going. its so hard to explain but its :q:q:q:qing awesome now i cant believe its the same car, it feels like a totally different car i cannot believe the leak made such a huge difference and how long i have been driving it like this!!!

Amazing when the computer knows how much air is going in, isnt it?

almost sounds like since you tb was loose that there must have been a little itty bitty vac leak going on to make it jump like that

thats what i was thinking and i think it was slowly happening since i bought it i think the screws finally let go and loosend up, i think who ever put the bolts in last stripped them but they snugged up so they left them alone, and after driving it for a year i think they finally worked loose, all i know is i love how it feels and reacts now its amazingly different.

or maybe just a powdercoated stock intake. where is my computer you little bastard? i want to put the 4:30's in!

If someone want to buy a Cobra intake, let me know:D

how much?

It comes with some IMRC plates that have been turned into delete plates, used gaskets, throttle body, IAC, intake tube and 97 Cobra fuel rail. I bought the fuel rail and intake tube separately. I have $500 in it with the rail and tube, I would take $400 for it here on LVC. I was going to use it but because of our emissions laws trying to get the EGR to work is going to be more work than it is worth. It is from a 97 Cobra and does not come with the bolts. Needs a little cleanup but that would be easy work. I haven't messed with it since I bought it. I can take pics after we come back from dinner if you are interested.

thats ok, thats more than i would spend, i already took the time to sand and polish a gen 2 intake smooth as glass so i could have it powder coated i'll just stick to that plan, that will only cost me $25 bucks!

the intake and throttle body will be gloss black, and i am doing my valve covers textured red with billet cop covers.

I wonder if your computer just adapted to a little bit more lean, and now it has over compensated making it even sparkier... I donno though. Wouldn't be suprised if it ran a little bit different if you unplugged the batt and reconnected it. Glad its running better though.

Jamie, don't this just make you cringe? That car has been through a lot since this pic.

Jamie, i didn't sand mine at all, just sprayed it clean with some purple power (which i think you suggested to me long ago) then sprayed with acetone and two coats later came out like glass... yours will have to come out like water ( my sense of saying smoother than glass... What color you going with... Eastwood has a mirror black which i think would look badass on your car...

i am doing a super gloss black with a high heat clear on top of that!

dan, maybe i should unhook it, but damm it took me so long to get my stereo the way i have it and ask terry, it isnt something you want to do more than once lol i dread the thought!

terry, for some reason i cannot find those pics of my car from that trip, were they all in the old thread? i cant even find the thread lol.

Hrrrmm... You could just unplug the PCM? OR if your tuner lets you clear adaptive fuel strategy, try that.

Yeah my car did the exact same thing Jamie, and all this time my 8&2 ignition wires were opposite. Changed it up cleaned the tb, going 40mph and flooring roasts the tires I couldn't believe it I went to pass some ass hat and my ass end swung out. Totally different car.

Hell to the NO I wouldn't disconnect my battery right now if someone paid me at least $200. That stereo only has 17,342 settings to get it back to normal. I guess if I had to, I would but damn, I would hate doing it.

I want to get some of the Edlebrock dura-shine, looks exactly like chrome, but it's a pc

jamie needs to look at that pic next time he talks about moving back north

yeah i dug mine out the other day and tossed the charger on it. usually the settings stay as long as i dont try to start it first, but sadly there gone :(

chicken the snow wouldnt bother me, come on man i lived in it for 26 years its snow, my car would never look like that again though it would be parked and wrapped up. i would go back in a heart beat i'm over florida!

No doubt, the cost of living is high as hell and the green sucks.
