olds aurora

I've seen both of those videos many times before - they're both heavily biased and flawed, in my opinion.

My statements stand and my opinions haven't changed. I'm done here.

Sure Buick tried to compete with the Mark, but I agree with 93 blue on blue that it's competitor was indeed the Eldorado. Riv had a supercharged 6cyl, eldorado had an 8cyl...the 8cyl was a more direct matchup against the Mark's engine than the riveria was.

I like the 2nd Gen Aurora, something about them is just sleek...especially in all black!

buick? you should be banned for liking those ugly ass cars maybe ill get one when im 70 and blind...lol

I had a 95 aurora and two 99 auroras. I really liked them. they have air shocks in the rear, and a very stiff frame, so they ride is very smooth. not as quick as my mark, but just as pretty.
the two 99s i had were very reliable, no issues at all. my 95 had a tranny issue, it didnt have the 4T80e. and the head gasket on one side was leaking because no sealant tablets got added to the fresh antifreeze when it was flushed. the dealer fixed it tho, at no cost to me.

I would pick a 97-98 mark over a aurora because aftermarket preformance parts almost dont exist.

The only purpose the Rivi had was to be something to sell people who couldn't afford a Mark VIII. The Mark VIII was for those who either wanted a RWD setup, couldn't afford an Eldo, or both.

Pull your panties out of your crack. I am not saying I agree with it, I am just saying thats how it was viewed when they came out. Personally i hate the Riviera and think the ETC was a POS too.

Twice I have met a supercharged Rivi owner that mentioned how his car was competition for mine and how they beat the Mark. Oddly enough when I ask them to run they just run away. :(

Yeah I test drove a Riv before I bought the mark. I was going to buy a "Silver Arrow" edition which was some limited edition car. It wasn't that fast, it wasn't slow, but the Mark would easily pounce on it...especially after the secondaries open up!

Riv's look like a Taurus
ive had a few stupid people ask me about my riv?! one guy that works with my wife said "i think its funny you work at ford and drive a buick...." i almost slapped him

i think gm compared the buick to the mark is because the eldo was more money. so comparing a cheaper buick that they say say is better for less money they look better

exactly

sealant tablets????????????????

if you dont use sealant tablets when you flush the coolant, you will likely blow the head gaskets, or at least cause them to leak.

you could avoid head gasket trouble with the north star engines if you service the cooling system properly

This thread should have died with Oldsmobile ... can't believe some good reliable members even posted on it.

But I guess different strokes for different folks ... so if you get a bone for the Riviera or the Aurora ... you better go stroke it.
