About to kill this car!!! Tranny probs again...

sorry to budge in here but does it mean anything if at about WOT the 1-2 shift is long. like it takes awhile for it to decide what to do but then snaps into 2nd, for the love of god dont tell me a the trans is going out

In your case, I would say, that's just how your shift points are programmed but XLRVIII will maybe chime in tomorrow morning on this question. I wouldn't think your trans is going out. 93 - 97 trans just simply suck. All of the upgrading took place in 98.

My 94 used to hang around in 1st for too long but when I put the 98 in after J-Modding it, 2nd gear came as it should at WOT and barked the tires and on the right street, even 3rd would give a slight bark too.

That same transmission is going into the 95 that I have now and I don't have any valve body buzz or shudder. It's just so much of a difference after the 98 is bolted in. The 95 doesn't hang in 1st too long as it is but the shifting points aren't the same as the 94, I'm assuming.

ok, may be a dumb question but what is the valve body? When i did the 1-2 accumulator swap and mercon V i had 2 springs and the accumulator. i never touched the 2-3 springs or accumulator like TCCOA says to. but i dont think this is the problem. how can i diagnose and replace ( if needed ) the valve body? and where in the tranny is it

Take the pan off and you will see this

Remove the filter and these

and then you'll see all of the valve body with a lot of bolts holding it in. It has a gasket in between it. I think 8mm bolts holds it on but they may be 10mm or a mixture. I really don't remember but I wouldn't swap out a valve body. Try to find a 98, 99 trans with 50 to 100K on it and buy front and rear seals for it, swap out the electrical internals and J-Mod it and you should never have to mess with the trans again.

Don't pay any attention to the black circuit board running from one side to the other because this is a 98 that is shown. It's the one I swapped over to work with a 94 and now it does not have that black circuit board anymore.

Your 1-2 spring(s) are probably broken. Easily fixed as part of a JMOD. Max at 5-Star Ford has everything you need, including updated springs and accumulators.

Ok. I'll make a weekend and check out the valve body. Thanks for the help guys. I'll keep u posted.
