I bought my 255 walbro from Summit a few years ago... completely satified

Walbro 255. Bought from SCP but it had the wrong filter! Did not fit well.

The Focus one now comes with the basket and is ready to drop in.

You basicly take that one apart and put the pump from it into your new basket or you can swap the tops. Also the focus pump uses a different connector... ps make sure you check the polarity of your wiring before you are done.... red from the mark is - red on the connector of the focus pump is +.

The Focus pump is not quite the right size just like a Mustang one isnt. There are only a couple pump makers (so I have been told) and chances are its a Walbro. Ebay sells two, one is $48 and I have no idea what brand it is. My 97 had the $78 one from ebay and it was a Walbro pump.

focus pump went right in just had to switch the caps on the housings and remember the wires are reversed according to common sense it black is power and green is ground if i remember correctly got the pump from ford it was like $125 for the whole assmble

Yes it drops right in but it sits higher then the T-bird/Mark pump so now you will have a couple gallons of unusable fuel. Yes most of us dont run our tanks down that much but its nice having that safety net, no?

Okay so for a 97-98 which is the best one we can buy that will sit at normal height then?

Walbro

or go ahead and stick a Focus pump in there, then you can be the kid in Krackers avatar

Major Issue I see with this thread is people are posting links but not saying what years it will work with. I was under the assumption from what "search" has taught me that 93-96 are different pumps than the 97-98. If this is the case you need to say what year the link you post applies to so people don't buy the wrong part.

We really need a sticky thread that has a list of part numbers for each widely asked for part like bushings, fuel pumps, gaskets etc. I couldn't even say how much time I've wasted pouring over search only to get incomplete information.

Dam n00bs. Aftermarket dont matter and will fit both just the same. Also this poll was started by someone with a 97 and was asking about a 97 255 pump so why would we need to specify year?
The only difference will be first gens dont need to reverse the power wires.
