NoLimit95 Black Interior Swap Progress

Well, I got the console carpet swapped over from the other console I had in black. Thanks to billcu, it made a big difference IMO. You were right, it don't need any additional glue. The black stuck right on there with no problem and doesn't even act like it wants to come back off unless pulled off. I took some pics of course. ;)

I'll get the door panels done tomorrow morning. I had too much other stuff going on this evening to get involved with them. I'm most likely going to go with a black wheel. I did get the upper dash piece swapped out too out of the 93. It was in mint condition and went right in the 95 without a problem. I put in black vents too just to get an idea for now.

Personally, out of all of the swaps I've seen, you struck Black Gold!! That looks GREAT!!! I noticed you didn't put a black center console lid on it. I think it looks odd when people put a different color lid on, It just doesn't look right. That's just my opinion though, Again nice job!!!

PS I think the vents could go either way, the Black looks good though.

Its too bad that they way that the dash flows from dash to door panels. If you put in the black door panels, it wont match the dash. But if you leave it the way it is, the door panels don't match the quarter trim. I think it looks awesome as is, but I guess it all will all be black in the end. I think it would look funny black door panels mated to a white dash...

I might have to two tone the door panels. Maybe change the carpet on the bottom so that it's black or put the black ones in and add some grey pieces. I'll have to play with it today and just see what looks best. Either way, the panels have to come off for modifications for the door speakers.

The strip across the front of the dash is also being changed out to the darker charcoal grey, which matches the strip on the black door panels and rear quarters. Air bag has to be changed too. Luckily I have the one I need in my closet.

Man, I can't tell you how much I like it. I really like how the center console makes it look even more like a cockpit. I think the Black carpet on the lower doors would be perfect.

I guess ill say i dont like the two tone look, it doesnt look right without black door panels and it wouldnt look right with black door panels and a grey dash.

I'm going to figure out something. I thought about going with the black panels and adding grey speaker grilles and switches and door handle cup. Either way, I'm down to the simple stuff now, I just need to figure out what I want to go with. Decisions decisions lol

If I had more black and grey picture ideas, it would help.

I hear ya, ive dyed my dash black and im still not happy with it. If i find another one for dirt cheap you can bet its going in and the dyed one is getting set on fire!!!

jrherald, why dont you like your dyed dash? Did they dye not hold up well, or what? I ask cuz my dash is painted.

I asked you after you said that last time. You said you would look cause you were sure you had a box full of them and then get back to me..... sometime around when you were supposed to send me the cross brace...... and license plate light. Then you got all pissy and said you were busy and something about my mother and a donkey...... :p

Terry, yeah thats what I needed. Like the license plate light you came through for me again. Should show Jamie how you do that. :D

terry is also a stay at home single dad, so he has time during the day for stuff like this, i work 50+ hours a week and then another 20 to 30 in my own shop on the weekends, the problem with me never getting back to most people on here is everyone asks me :q:q:q:q in threads, and i can never remember where i am being asked for stuff, thats why i have an email, i can always find questions in an email, but when you guys ask stuff in a thread i cant remember where the :q:q:q:q it is!!

Sorry to hijack Terry, I dont like it because the dash only matches when the door panels are covered in that greasy armor-all stuff. On top of that when my wife was driving it i would sit on the passanger side and my knees rubbed off the dye next to the door and radio. Its held up well but i want all the black in my car to be one shade of black.

Jamie nags like a little old lady from Pasadena. You know we have much respect for you Jamie. So quit the bitching and complaining about a little piece of plastic that was mentioned in a :q:q:q:qing thread that you missed and then decided to come back and catch up again, just so you could bitch. I think you got your point across now though. Anyone that needs anything, email the :q:q:q:qer, don't ask for it in a thread lol. Send him a PM over and over or call him like I do. Send him a text message. He loves those. :D

Thats cause you used the gloss version. I used the flat version for my ASHAM mount and its a perfect match.

Bring your ass back down here and jerk the dash out of my car. I ain't going to use it and I'm about to have it hauled off within 2 weeks. Both cars are being pulled out of here.

I know, if it was a double DIN id be there tomorrow. I had a black 94 dash and console from the first Mark 8 i parted out (i got everything in black but the back seat from it) and decided then i didnt like the look of it. I tryed to give it away but no one wanted it to it went in the trash!!

Anyway, I'm starting to feel the two tone look. I didn't have time today to mess with it but tomorrow I'll see what I can do to make up a good blend into the dash. I'm not about to pull out two dashes and install one. It's just not worth it to me and I don't mind the single din because I have an adapter for a single din stereo. I have the same Kenwood eXcelon that Jamie has but it's been in the trunk now for months.

I guess I like it because it's different and not what everyone else has, if that makes sense and to me, it looks good but better in person.

It's kinda hard to go wrong when you're dealing with grey and black but I just have to figure out the right blend from the rear and into the door panel and then into the dash. Maybe the rear panels need only the grey speaker grilles in and then black door panels with grey switches and grilles.
