What is it about these cars?

They are just great cars- nice power, comfortable, moddable to an extent. I would ahve been in one 5 years ago if the car hadnt been wrecked and rebuilt horridly.

Also the reason Im selling a near perfect 5.0 Vic to buy one. although I prefer the look of Gen1's!

(nice saleens. didnt know mustang wheels fit? hub conversion?)

I almost never see another Mark on a regular basis. I have seen a Gen II non LSC in the neighborhood a couple times, and looks pretty clean from what I have seen. Aside form that one, have only seen a couple others driven by old men.
I am glad I found an LSC, since I prefer to be subtle and am very anti--chrome, on anything.
I have yet to get a compliment, but I have caught people next to me trying to figure out what the car is.
I like the 03 Cobra motor option since I can drop it in, don't know if I trust myself to build a mod motor. Have built a few pushrods, but this is a whole nother beast.
I have been trying to resist the urge to put my nitorus kit to use I have in the garage...even still have a full bottle. Ran a 125 shot on my 4.6 Bird for years. Confused many people when they got walked.

Edit: I let my girlfriend drive it around the block. Took a lot of convincing for her to steer a boat, but she was amazed how easy it was to drive. She has not really driven anything other than Hondas...I am working on that though.

Thanks and nope, they are the very first prototype ones made for Marks with the correct backspacing and bolt pattern. Bought them used om here and then found out from the guy who sells them and commisioned them that these were the first. I like the hell out of them. :)

HAH

Build a mod motor for your mark, it will be cheaper, less of a hassle, better performing and most likely alot lighter.

Can you give me this recipe?

Because, I'm looking at a 'better performing and most likely alot lighter' build, and I'm looking at 10k, vs the 6,500 dollar 03-04 take-out price! :p

Beautiful, mine turns heads when clean/detailed (especially on a sunny day). They are heavy but remarkably quick for their size, and handle great. We have other nice, fast and comfortable vehicles, but those cars have FOUR DOORS (2-too many)and are driven by the wrong wheels (front drivers).

My Mark is modern even though it is 14 years old now, and I like the fact that I do all the work on it myself-if you wade through the pompousness and cliques that sometimes rear their ugly heads, lots of good information and help from the less godlike on here:D :D :D :D Buying a factory manual set is a must, reading it is like finding the meaning of life. I will forever love and keep my Mark.

What Is It About This Car You Ask ?

I totally agree with MEDIUM D--DIESEL DAN--BLUE ON BLUE. Last Spring I went to see a business friend in Toledo. We came walking out of his office a little later and he said "I SEE YOU GOT YOU A NEW CAR WHILE YOU WERE IN FLA. THIS WINTER,,WHAT IS IT? Without missing a beat I said.. THAT'S A LINCOLN MARK V111. without saying the year. He said "SURE IS BEAUTIFUL". I never did tell him the year or how long I had really had it. I had never brought it up north for quite a few years. LIKE BLUE SEZ "ANONYMITY".
At a MOTEL on I-95 a clerk at the registration desk said "WHAT KINDA CAR IS THAT OUT THERE ?? AIN'T THAT COOL ?

These cars definitely stand out. Had some kid (late teens) stare at my car while his dad was getting out of their F350...that he parked right behind me, and I was 10 spots away from the nearest car.

Since I park in many different lots each day for work I sometimes forget where I park. Use to lose my Jeep all the damn time, I can usually spot the Mark by the time I get into the lot.

and around here, nobody has a clue as to what my Mark is, they will say, is that a 09 or a 10? lol yup, I love em both. My daily has been such a trooper, gonna spoil her this summer with a new paint job she deserves it.

(take a look at a 2nd gen at night with the taillights on - you will see what I mean! but I still LVOE LOVE LOVE those taillights!)

I tell her i want to replace the vic with one, and She says "why do you like these boats?"

at least she likes the mustang

If i had more money i would just have more mark viii's. Its that simple. lol.

:I & it's simply because :L & with money I'd have a garage full of them. What's better than a nice Lincoln Mark VIII???? A $h!t load of Lincoln Mark VIII's!!! :hump:

Please tell me you were joking:(

I hope he was!

We all dream of being like Jamie one day! You are like the Jay Leno of Mark VIII's! lol

You know what I find very frustrating? Trying to convince someone that the Mustang Cobra came with a Mark VIII engine as the Mark VIII carried the DOHC engine first & not until 3 years later was it placed on the Mustang platform as their Cobra 5.0 replacement. My stepdad has a Cobra & no matter how much I try to explain it, he doesn't get it. Well, granted, he doesn't know s**t about cars. lol

Ask him if Doc Brown came to ford and stole a engine from SVT to bring back to 1992 to put into your mark.

Well tell your dad that ford wouldn't pay to build the DOHC they would only pay to build the 2V motor.

Lincoln had to step up with the dollars to develop the DOHC.

3 years after the Mark 8 had been carrying the DOHC, SVT (stands for "Some Vato Took") a 4.6 DOHC out of Lincolns Parts bins and dropped it into a mustang.

Your dad must have been asleep for the last 40 years.

all the way back to the 70's... ford was snatching Lincoln Motors and putting them in mustangs.

If it weren't for the deep pockets of Lincoln those VATO's at SVT wouldn't have had anything to GRAB out of the parts bin.

So everytime you talk to you dad, tell him that "I" want to know how that Lincoln Motor is treating him.
*grins*

SVT trampled the "vision" that those 16 fellows with SVO had.

When it went from 16 engineers at SVO to a "gang of VATOs numbering in the hundreds" it just "wasn't the same vision".

RIP special vehicle operations... your vision is solely missed

Alex I have a great article on that same subject ill bring it to you so you can show it to him.

Is it in Spanish? I highly doubt it. Unless is has pictures like a little kid's book he won't understand it, much less try to read it. My stepdad's dumber than a door knob.

I know that didn't happen because I stole the FLUX CAPACITOR! lol

Dude, my stepdad has been asleep his entire life. Here's the thing, in Cuba all you have overthere are old 50's cars. They all carry a s**t load of chrome. He came with that mind set & if it wasn't for me his car would look like it came out of a circus.
What does he know about cars? He likes Mustangs because of how they sound, I showed him that the Cobra makes more power so he wanted one. THAT'S IT! He knows nothing else. He bought it, I stopped him from buying all those plastic chrome accents sold at Advance Auto Part otherwise that car would be full of chrome crap all over the place. I lead him all the way into a new paint job, gorgeous custom interior & beautiful wheels. I didn't pick the exterior color but I admit the car looks nice. Now, in his head, a sporty car is a sporty car & luxury is luxury & that there's no way a Cobra engine could be in a Mark VIII. Then he proceeds to tell me when we pop hoods side by side that they are similar since they are made by Ford but he always points at the Cobra on the top of his upper manifold & tells me how diferrent these engines are. Then he tells me that if it's true, we should be race them & they would be side by side all the way down the 1/4 mile. I stop there because I know where the rest of the conversation is headed & he's my stepdad, the guy has a heart of gold but he's more stubborn than a freaking mule. The only way he may think a bit more about it is if he looks at a Gen II intake manifold since it looks a bit more similar to his. It's to the point that I just let him be.

Then you need to play a trick on him. Find a local guy with a Gen 2 with a manifold swap. Then tell him that is how they came factory.
