So Im in the process of trying to sell my 5.0 Crown Victoria, and pick up something newer. you know, with power windows. and Air Bags.

My goal is to get a mark to replace it with, since it fits all my needs quite well.

anyway, Ive found a few that may be interested in. mostly Gen1's, since A) I cant afford a gen2, and B) I dont like the look of non-LSC's.

anyway, heres a couple Ive found:

first:

somethign fishy about this one though. They dropped the price 600 after a week, and then another 400 overnight.

2nd:

I prefer this one-

Now, what can you guys see about them that i should ask about?

Im sure they wont be perfect, but Im sure it will have a better ride then my 87 Vic:rolleyes:

that red one, the 3rd one you linked has chrome snowflakes, i still want to find a set of them, thats the only way a snowflake looks good is chrome!

1st one - great deal... I wonder what the catch is? Might have a salvage title...

Chrome snowflakes FTW!!!

I knew I wasn't on a trip when I saw a Mark with a set, up in NJ! :)

That 97 sounds waaaayyyyy too good to be true! It's a freaking steal. I agree with the above comments, go check it out, if it shows a clean title & the engine/trannsmission are fine, thats your car otherwise it's option 3.

First one all the way.

Stock wheels are never a reason to buy. The '93-'94?'95? Interior is ghetto fab. Makes me miss my old one, but not enough to want another!

that first one sounds like a great deal even if you have to do a little work on it. Have them guarantee it will pass state inspection and you have a winner. The red one doesn't list the mileage.

true, that was my thought- but only 80k? Definately a a car to go over with a fine tooth comb.

But the headlight issues with gen2's has me weary of them. I havent found any threads on how to fix the low beams.

theres a lot of options when it comes to the headlights. The best one is to pick up a pair from the local junkyard. You'll have all the parts you need. :D the other option is to use a conversion kit to change it over if it goes out.

conversion...to halogen?

no marks in yards here- almost all compacts and taurus'.

No use a e bay hid kit 9005 bulb, use adapter from the kid.
ez to do I have them love it.
You can do a gen one or two.

so it installs just like any other kit?

Ill be calling about both tomorrow. I dont ahve a problem with the red car having the (est) 155k on it, as long as they're clean.

one other thing- is it possible to turn off the traction control on gen2's like on gen1's? The TC is worthless in NY winters, and hinders performance in it.

I think the traction control can be turned off via the message center on gen 2's.

Do some searching......there is a sticky for gods sake.

Yesssir it can.

as mentioned before, yes..and you can also disable it in the tune so it never comes back on..
which is my preferred route to take..as you can kill the torque reduction on the shifts and also remove about 20 degree's of "tip in retard", while your at it.

I have searched- but there arent any direct topics on turning off trac in a gen2 or threads in the first few pages on repairing low beams on gen2 headlights. just lots of gen1 stuff- I wasnt sure If its different on cars with factory HID's compared to what Ive done on cars with halogens stock.

On the Gen2 you can turn off the traction control via the message center or with a tune. If the car is in decent shape I would'nt drive it in a NY winter anyway.

the 97 sold 2 weeks ago apparently, even though the ad is a week old...

the 95 has 125k on it. new exhaust, and no rust on it. air suspension doesnt leak down overnight and the trans is good- guy i was talking to has a 97 and beat me to asking about that since he expected it.
