What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

I spent $150 getting the tires balanced, rotated, and an alignment. Man do I haaaattttteeeeee paying to have my car worked on...

Installed a new passenger side window motor then finally got the orange Taurus RPM needle to take properly into my instrument cluster. Now all my needles are orange! Having that one needle still white was annoying me lol.

Thanks, it is a kit for an Aviator from my local audio shop, I don't recall the brand. I used the black felt that was orginally around the factory radio to cover the gaps in the sides. I think I am still going to have to open up the bottom of the dash some to get it to sit how I want, it works but there is some pressure required to install the trim piece.

Does the bezel sit flush at the dash? If anything it appears like it's a bit tight on the top and bottom. If it doesn't sit flush that's probably why.

If you can't get it to fit properly you can try a Metra 95-5026. Requires about 10min of modifying but I'm sure you can handle it. ;)

This kit if flipped around (Plastic strip across the top, similar to yours) caused my bezel to stick out a bit, not sit flush w/ the dash. Flipped it around 2 years ago and got the bezel to go on correctly.

Well, got both of my doors handles done. It took an extra 2 hours because BOTH of the key cyl retaining washer things decided they wanted to spring out and hide from me. Found one 5 ft away and the other in the tiniest crevice where my crash bar used to be..... Luckily I had some mags so that I could sweep the surrounding areas and inside the door.

But everything else went smoothly. They look ok color-wise, but not perfect. They'll have to do.

I don't know if I mentioned it here or not (not Mark VIII related), but I took a Tesla Model S for a test drive on March 29th. I took my son with me and he loved it. The car is absolutely fantastic! If I had $80k or so laying around, this car would be in my driveway right now. I LOVE it! I drove the base model P60. It has a 60kW/Hr battery that is good for a range of 208+/- miles and 315hp. 315 electric hp is a lot different from internal combustion hp. At 45mph, I gave it the beans and the front end stood up and I sunk back in the seat and she took off like a rocket! Instant torque anywhere, any time. It's fantastic! And the car is so quiet. At a stoplight, the interior is eerily quiet. No vibration, no noise whatsoever. Then, you mash the throttle and all you hear is a very faint whine from the 315hp motor. Hit the gas too hard with the t/c off and the tires will break loose in a cloud of burnt rubber! The steering weight is adjustable as well. I had it set to "Sport" so it felt quite firm. Regenerative braking also has three settings. I had mine set to the highest setting. At that setting, you rarely have to even touch the brake pedal. Just let up on the "gas" pedal and the motor changes to generator mode and litterally slows the car without using the brakes. The only time I touched the brake was to come to a complete stop. The ride is firm but comfortable and the air suspension is height adjustable and automatic leveling. I found out during the test drive that most of the suspension components are sourced from Mercedes. As are some of the interior bits and pieces. That explained the cruise control "stalk" sticking out above the turn signal lever. I kept hitting it instead of the turn signal  The interior is roomy and comfortable and there is no tunnel. The car is just pure awesomeness from every single perspective. I'm looking forward to the day I can get one, although it will probably never happen :(

Also did a little tinkering with the Mark a little bit. Got the HID lows working and installed some superbright LED's in the footwells and a blue LED license plate light.

Finally got my Fun button to work again. I would much rather take apart a Gen 1 console than a Gen2.
Now to install my AeroCatches on my hood

Tesla? yea...missed out on that stock. 12 months ago it was $40.33/share. Today it's $207.52/share

Were you having issues with your hood staying closed or did you just want hood latches for a preventative nature?

Upper core supports are different between the 2 Gens, having a Gen1 hood with a Gen2 core support wasnt allowing the front edges of the hood to sit even with the fenders. Hood would latch fine, but I wanted the panels lines to match up and not look like a car that had been wrecked.

Drove mine to work today had a blast. over the winter we tore top of motor down cleaned plenum and valve ports painted plenum and valve covers maroon and redone the plastic covers pearl white looks great. car deff runs better as well long over due.

Took mine in to get inspected. Being an out of state salvage title car it had to get inspected by the state troopers before I can get tags for it. Passed. Also hit up the car wash. The highlight of the day was parking next to this MINT Mark VII LSC at the hardware store...

Cleaned the engine compartment, indexed the 93 drive shaft, polished the wheels and tweaked my aero-catch latches

Becoming friends with a new MK VIII owner. He has a nice 98LSC. My CE needed some gas so we went for a ride (80mile round trip) to the casino. After filling it up I took the milage readings, and had 19.5 mpg. He couldn't believe it. It really came out to 20.5mpg, and that was all around driving,50/50 city/frwy. I guess he needs a tune up. I'm trying to get him to join LVC. I was doing about 73mph, and had to go around some idiot, so I hit passing gear and in a few seconds doing 87. Had to slow down, too many cops with radar on this frwy, and I was passing on the right. The new Primacy's took out a lot of the bumps in the road. We don't have many nice roads in CT. (more potholes than road) I like this car. I only made $143.00, and a new toaster (free), and $38.00 in free gas. A nice day with one of my MK VIII's. The new friend's name is MARK. He must be a nice guy with that name.

I've never trusted anybody named Mark. I'd run away, and fast.

Does it clunk when shifting from Park to Reverse/Drive? Check Transmission Mount and Pinion bearing
I'm having mine Plasti-Dipped very soon. Still debating on leaving things Gloss black Painted ( Grill, Brow, Cobra hood nostrils, the ring on the side view mirrors and door Handle lever, rear brake light trim)

For your center console cusion, go to Wal-Mart and get the Brown "Gorilla Glue" and some tape of any kind. Inject the glue ( just a little because the glue will expand as it dries) and wrap tape around the cusion to hold its form until glue dries

Yes it does clunk when shifting from park to drive. The transmission mount looked fine when I had it on the lift for the exhaust. How do I check the pinion bearing? thanks for the tip on the center console lid.its only vinyl and foam at this point though the plastic is all broken away I have to get a new one unfortunately

Nice mark BTW! It should look sweet matte black. I hoping mine will. I think the gloss would still look good in contrast with the dip.

Grab the rear U-joint and push up and down. See if there's any slop in the Diff.
The trans mount can hide its crack very well, you'll need to take a small pry bar and stick it in where you can lift up on the tail of the trans to see if it's cracked or not

If it turns out to be the trans mount, I highly suggest the Energy Suspension unit from Summit Racing for the T-birds
