My Mark VIII is getting up there on miles. It has 150K miles currently and will be getting dynoed. I am raising the shifts all the way to 7K. The reality of it all is the car has rust issues that are starting in the very early stages (although the passenger door bottom edge is pretty much toast) and shifting my car this high with this many miles on it is more risky with the age. But that's the name of the game and I am still trying to reach for the sky NA one more time this year.

Now, there is a supercharged LSC that I am looking at but likely it will sell before I can come up with the full amount. The downside is it has log manifolds and a stock converter. I have these parts already on my car and all new suspension. I am on track to have about $10K at the end of September and am wondering what can I do with my car, should I decide to forego another project with this one and let the Supercharged LSC slip by?

My vision:

First and foremost, the engine needs to be fresh, I would really like to go forged, and I want a blower.

Talk to me peeps. And I'll also throw this out there. Anyone even out of state that would like to share in my vision can also share in the dough too. If there is any individuals on here that know how to rebuild a Teksid and throw some heavy internals into it, don't be shy. Come forward and let's talk.

If I don't find a job by Sept. I'm going to put all three of my cars up for sell untill at least one sells. But the 93 & 98 would both go up for sell and if it happens Id sell you the 93 for less than that. I hope this never happens but I just wanted you to know.

I hope that never happens to you either man. That is a car that I would never want to get rid of. How many miles are on your car out of curiosity?

wtf are u serious don? no way man id u were to sell the 98 how much?

Not certain on exact amounts yet. But off the top of my head 8,500 for the 93 and 3,250 for the 98. SUBJECT TO CHANGE

your out there in colorado, little rust can be fixed.10k back into the motor. thats always been my plan but car wouldnt cooperate. now shes gone have a new one on the way, and a ton of parts now old and new sitting here.youve got plenty to forge and s/c. i'll be right behind you, just not s/c, for starters, but I do want to after all is said and done according to my original plan and bodywork.

That all depends on what approach I take. Those two things alone could easily eat up the cash. Then I have bodywork and tuning on top of all that. I threw the offer out there just for a feeler because if I could avoid going to a high dollar shop, it will help. Then again, there could also be quality issues. It is a feeler thread but I am fairly serious in my intentions IF it is feasible.

Well, you really have to look at what YOU want but make sure you do the right thing for your pocket. If your car is starting to rust in places you can already see with the naked eye, this means you have plenty rust where you can't see. You may want to think about starting a rust free, lower mileage project. Buy a clean car, transfer the parts, sell your current car as close to stock as possible. You as well as I know that we don't get back what we spend on our cars anyway.

As for the supercharged LSC? It's a risk. I say keep your car until September. If the LSC is around by then, its yours, if not then proceed with what I just told you above. Either way if my car was going to become a future rust bucket I'd waive it good bye.

Sure thing. Plus I have a good back up engine that could go with it. It is out of the 97 parts car clean and 85xxx. Another set of used 17" Cobra-R wheels with street tires for travel. The rear end out of the parts car with 3:73 gears and Trac/loc. Another 3800 stall lock up converter. And a divider plate for the transmission in the 98. and a extra 93 one piece drive shaft. 4 Cobra Star emblems. 4 Cobra Star vinyl emblems. 4 Cobra Star vinyl center caps

Transfer the goodies from yours to the lsc(that it doesn't already have). Get the silver bandit ready for dd use if you keep it.

Seems pretty simple to me.

my motto is built, not bought. that red car is nice, but i would rather have something that I put together. as much as possible anyway.

I have the same motto, but not everyone fits that mold.

Rust never sleeps.

Thomas is a great guy, his car and his reputation are top notch.
It is cheaper to buy then to build.
If you want a turn key car, it does not get much better then his.

If you want a project that is rust free has a cobra termi engine... call Dan and have it shipped up here.
Needs paint, needs int. needs rear gone through.
Maybe use your car for parts.

Dan is also a awesome guy.
Top notch, one of the best, last I heard "within the last month" it was wasting away in FL.
I do believe it is one of the first cobra swapped cars.

IMHO
don't throw money into a car with rust.

I've personally seen the S/C car your taking about and if I remember right from conversations with the owner it was built by jermey (same guy that built wardens 96) so that tells you the quality of the work done and add tho the fact the car hasn't been hammered on I say get the built car transfer you goodies you want to and call it a really fast and nice day.

I have to agree with Ford Nut. It is always gonna cost more to build it. Also these cars don't hold enough value to dump money into a rusty one. I know it sounds like plenty, but 10k won't get you very far into a full build/resto, heck just a good forged shortblock is going to be over 3k. Finding a completed car or an abandoned project is the way to go.

True that..if he's got 10k to spend why not just save another 2k and buy Thomas A's red supercharged mark, everything about that car seems quality and all the work is done already..never know maybe he can be talked down a bit.. and just keep the silver car as a DD..
