WTF! Power steering

I appreciate that. I have brand new fluid at the ready to go in. I did not see any signs of metal in the fluid, which is a good thing. It was still red too, not burnt up or anything.

Put the new pump and reservoir in. Reman Motorcraft pump. Only difference I noticed is how on the factory pump there is a little bracket in the 90* part of the high pressure line, the new pump doesn't have a boss for the 8mm bolt that holds that bracket on. I just removed the bracket. Installed a new teflon o-ring and tightened everything up. Filled it up with Motorcraft Merc V. Didnt even wine or need bled. I turned it left and right and it had no tight spots. Backed it out and drove it home. No drama other than the :q:q:q:q:q:q:q transmission guy parked an f350 with no reverse right behind my bay so I couldnt get my car out. The service manager got pissed because he knew he did it on purpose (me and this guy have been going back and forth, he's such an asshat, and best yet he's a deacon at a church.) We put a jack under the back axle and dragged it outta the way so I could get my car out.
 
is there a write up on how to change a power steering pump on a gen 2? I cant seem to find one. also is this something anyone can do? or should i look for a mechanic to do it?
 
I mean no offense to you when i say this but, if you have to ask how to do it, let someone else do the work. Its just safer and probably cheaper for you in the long run.

A 10mm ratcheting wrench will help you a lot as well as a stubby 18mm for the line. Four bolts and it drops right out then one hose clamp and one 18mm line nut. Not a big deal.
 
Its easy sauce. 3 or 4 10mm bolts hold the pump to the block. Use a 3/8" ratchet to release the belt tensioner. You then need to disconnect the fluid hoses from the pump, its really pretty simple. EDIT: didn't see there was a second page with people replying to the same question...

Slight points Dan. Its 4 10mm bolts. The line nut is 18mm and you need a 1/2" drive to loosen the driveline blet.
You will also need a pulley puller since new pumps don't have the pulley. Be careful not to push the new one on too far.
 
^^ What you said! Its been too long since I put that pump on. I know the pump has 4 holes, but I think I might be thinking about the 6.0s that use the same pump but some of them only have 3 bolts because there is a line over one of the bolt holes.
 
Our pump has the line over the bottom front bolt. Be careful with that pulley, some are phenolic..which break easy
