...Must you drop the engine down lower than its original height to access all the bolts? Or is everything pretty free and clear once you get the k-member out of the way?

Anything else I need to worry about while I am in there?

I didn't really see these questions covered in the steering mod/manifold thread, so I applogize for starting a new thread.

I plan to do the manifold and steering shaft mod w/ income tax money, and also put an oil pan in it, and the oil filter adapter gasket on it while I am at it.

Followed by my new exhaust of course, but I am trying to figure out how much of a pain it will be to R&R the manifolds.

Jesse, I have never done it but my guess would be that it would have to be a lot easier to deal with if lowered down. Just changing oxygen sensors is a PITA so I could imagine what it would be like to swap out manifolds. I'm saying this because you're going through the trouble of dropping the K member anyway... ~shrugs~ just guessing like you I suppose.

That's excelllent news. Now... to just find an oil pan.... lol

You guys are great!

My biggest concern w/ dropping the engine/trans down, is all the wiring that's NEVER moved since '93... I'm very paranoid about creating new issues... that copper wire gets brittle after nearly 20 years of heat cycles...

I am not even looking forward to swapping engines in my '94 GT...

use your income tax $$ on headers!the wires should be fine, now the plastic looms they are gonna break like old toast left out for the weekend!lol

Nahhhh then I couldn't get my exhaust, stall, and etc...

Plus, I paid 150 total for brand new terminator manifolds and a mach 1 H pipe.... scrappd the cats and made it all back pretty much!

I am gonna have my buddy clean up the manifolds on the inside.

I would imagine you can drop the engine a little bit too with the k-member down. Just put a 2x4 on your jack an loosen your top engine support, lower the engine a couple inches and then reapply tension to your support bar... 3 inches max, I would say...

From what I saw the other day, if you drop it down, you can get almost a straight shot at the nuts. Take lots of pics, because I want to do this soon.

If I can find a good used oil pan for a fair price, that will be the only thing holding me up..... well that and helping my buddy finish his E85 carb'd 347 foxbody. Once THAT is done, we can get my Mark in his barn... and I will take lots of pics

I would think somewhere in the neighborhood of what the one on LOD is going for. I could justify a few more dollars if its spotless. I just can't justify 75-80+ for an oil pan unless it was super nice.

Thanks for the link Anthony, I will email him.

Racebronco2 on viii.org has a couple pans, but I'm not sure exactly which pan you're after...I'm really just posting to see how the headers go. :)

Well considering these pans are hard to find as it is...$80 is probably not a bad deal
