Seems like every other day, someone is posting a thread about buying 20's for their LS... then a few months later, they're back posting a thread saying that they're selling them for whatever reasons.

My question... why bother in the first place if you're only going to sell them in a few months. I'm not knocking anyone's style choices here, but it seems that people here spend alot of time and money on their wheels only to try and sell them off a little while later and never recoup what they invested in the first place.

Yep, working late and I'm bored.

Had 20s on since May or so can't remember, not taking mine off, no reason too.

Alot of people on here buy LSes, complain they suck, drive them anyway, and waste our time complaining about them.

Haven't figured that one out.

Actually I have a pretty good idea.

LS dont suck whats ur problem buddy? go sell urs to someone who appriciates them a lil more :)

I think that the problem is they want the Bling, but don't realize the non-cash cost.

I mean I've put too big rims and too small sidewalls on a couple of cars (not dubs, but when the car was built for 14's and you mount up 18's its close).

20+ inch rims, ride hard and potholes will ruin them fast.
then there is the whole chrome thing, in some areas the chrome rims are just peeling plating waiting to happen.

So they get them for the flash and the look, then sell them a little while later because they cannot stand the limits that these rims have.

Yeah, but more often than not, other LS members endorse fellow owners purchases of 20's. There's that one thread where someone wanted to put 22's on their car which generated negative interest, but most LS owners (except me) like them. Then the owners sell them in a few months and never say why.

I just point out this $hit... it's a hobby ;)

I got my 18's because the chrome 17's were toast due to the MN salt. I actually pleased with the look and ride I get with them. My opinion, I think 20's are to much.

The 22s were a ridiculous idea, most people said it. 20s aren't that impratical, as long as you stay away from curbs during parking, I always do. I've hit some bumps that made me wonder the possibility of damage, none yet. (knock on wood).

I think people often buy to gawdy a rim (impulse buy) and then loose interest or realize later its just frickin ugly. Or buy a bad fitment (probably most of the time) and then get sick of, or scared of the rubbing. Or buy bad quality and they ride worse than they need too. Or just can't stop tagging the damn curb and realize they just aren't a good enough driver to keep them from getting trashed. Also alot of people have money issues and unfortunately there rims are a valuable asist to sell for them to try to fix the problem. Thats why it always says need to sell FAST.

Said it once, will say it again...Wild Wild West.

20's just dont look right on the LS.. you need a big body car, or truck for 20's... i say 18's are perfect for the LS

I have had 20s on my LS almost 2 years. I am not planning on changing them, unless they going to be some other styled 20s that I really like. Other than that, maybe some real nice 21s. 22s are rediculus, I mean 21s are real big too, but once in a while I think 20s look a little small on my LS.

I am thinking of selling my LS and maybe buying an 06 LS, and maybe I'll put 21s on it, if not then 20s for sure.

I like 18's or 19's. You can still lower the car if you want to, and it doesn't effect it like the 20+ sizes. It's all about personal opinion, but i plan on getting some 19's and possibly dropping it. I do agree I don't understand dishing out $2000 to turn around in 3 months and sell 'em for $1200.

i like my twenties and so do the judges of all the car shows ive been to and won. people have different opinions on what there ls is supposed to be able to do. like racing an ls, ive had many fast cars, just dont see putting so much money into an ls for racing when a stock lexus will eat me up, but there are some that love to race their ls and i respect that. some people like to keep it stock because they know they are just going to trade it in. if i thought i was going to sell my car or rims i would not put alot of money into it. the only reason i have thought about selling my car is for a down payment on a house. i believe the ls is just that luxury sport, you can go either way but it is going to cost money. hey if anybody wants to buy rims, let me know, i get a hell of a discount with the thewheelgroup.com View attachment 20572

I've had 20" wheels (20x8.5" Enkei Kapones) on for about a week now and love them. I have no rubbing, turning, or ride quality issues so far. Half the roads around where I live are kinda rough at times and I feel only a slight difference in ride quality vs. stock 16" wheels. I can turn the wheels fully left and right with no rubbing, can go over big bumps, speed bumps, and large inclines with no problems. They look and fit perfect. TOTALLY makes the car complete. Turns heads like crazy. Love them.:D

I've had 20's on my LS for about a month now. Ride quality is great. No rubbing issues. I bought them from a local professional boxer and they are 1 of 3 sets in the country. So, I know I won't be riding around one day and see someone with them. That part alone makes me love the wheels. Not to mention, they are Lowenharts. For the price I got them compared to what most people pay, I can't complain one bit. But, to each their own.

Funny part is most people here buy 20"s for the fact there 20's. and thats whats cool.

Yet 9 out of 10 of them couldnt tell the differecne between an LS with 19's or 20's,,lol

20's are like buying Nike sneakers when a pair of New Balance our just as good but half the price.

I agree 20's need a big body to match,,or they look silly,, seen some nice wheels on here that were 18's and 19's,, look damn good and fit the ride.

Shoot I am gettin the spinner hub caps they sell here at KMART.. lol most of u would look at my pics posted and tell me how nice they r,,lol

Guess a 20's emblem on the car is cooler than a 19'' one

One of three sets in the country? dude...look at the post just above yours. I think you will find one of the other sets..lol

It seems like most of the guys I've seen doing this fall into one of these categories:
  1. realized that "bling" wasn't what they wanted
  2. disliked the resulting ride
  3. ran into technical problems (clearance/suspension/braking/etc)
  4. ran into cashflow problems and needed money (this seems, by far, to be the largest group)
Personally, I don't care for most wheels larger than 19" on the LS. That's partly because they're harder on the suspension and brakes (due to the necessarily greater unsprung mass), but mostly because most of them are just flat-out fugly. It seems like the best-looking wheels (IMHO) are all in the 19" or smaller sizes.

And shouldn't you be out there hassling young punks on the street instead of online? :D

I don't doubt the wheels are 1 of 3 or whatever, they do look like alot of the other ones even if they aren't exactly the same.

Agree with you on #4. As you can see the only 20" responders don't fit that catagory, we still have them.
