What would you do in my shoes?!?!?!?

LOL!!!! you guys are the sensitive ones that get upset when people consider a clunker MarkVIII as non drivable.

Do you really need a truck or not? They're bad on gas, not a nice ride, don't really perform worth a damn, so if you don't really need their capabilities they're a bad idea.

in my opinion non driveable means you have to have something towed, but that car you get in, turn the key, shift it into drive and drive it anywhere, that car would probably make it to california how do you consider it a non driver? i'm not sensitive about the car, i just think its funny how you think a perfectly running driving car, is non driveable lmao!

What would you do in my shoes?!?!?!?
i wouldnt ask for opinions, i would do what i thought was best for me.

Option Deuce

I've thought about option II as being the leading option. I don't make the 59k I used to back before my unemployed days but my current job pays me decent enough for a car payment in the low $200's p/m HOWEVER if I was to find a LOWWWW mileage Mark VIII I'd grab that & omit the payments!

I-pooped-in-your-shoes.jpg

PRICELESS!!!!!!!

sell the truck and the red mark, then bring your 93 to me, drop it off with a wad of cash and come back and get it when i call you and have a nice looking, all fixed great reliable car. then take the wife out to mcdonalds and celebrate.

I LOVE this idea however, get rid of the red Mark, get rid of the truck, then disappear the black one for say, a couple weeks @ your place while you fix it.... WTF do I drive in the mean time? How the fvck would I get back home? I'm Cuban but I'm not getting a fvcking raft to paddle my @ss back to Miami for sure!

Priceless +2

So..... sell all of them and buy an LS!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHA, ummm, :shifty: WHAT?

Do you really need a truck or not? They're bad on gas, not a nice ride, don't really perform worth a damn, so if you don't really need their capabilities they're a bad idea.

Thats kinda the only reason I want to sell it. My daily diver is my truck. It's a bulky car to drive daily!!! It does 10 mpg ($73 to fill the tank) & it's slower than molasses.
That truck was a project that never got finished! I bought the 93 MK8 & stopped the SVT Lariat project cold turkey. I always wanted a 2003 Cobra Terminator engine in my truck but that dream never happened & at this point I don't want it to happen anymore either. It's too old!

Funny how my wife supports all my crazy sh!t yet I'm the one that wants to get rid of the crap.

ANOTHER THING! My wife has a brand new 2011 JEEP Patriot. It's a PIECE OF SH!T but its new yet I'm here driving THREE CLUNKERS!!! They look great (except the 97) but they are OLD!

During my honeymoon when I drove the new Cadillac I felt like I was in heaven in that new car & when I jumped back in my cars this week I looked at both of them & said; "FVCK THIS! I can do better than this!" That's why I'm asking for your opinions!

Thanks guys.

i like option 2. but whatever you do, no car payment ftw.

OK, truck is payed for! I haven't had car payments in over 5.5 years since I last payed off my truck! back in '06

Alex we should of gone and met up at the tower shops today and talked about it. If I was you I'd go with choice 2 or keep the truck and get a nice used car that you can pay off in a couple of years. You're going to need a 4 door family car soon cause you just got married and the next step is kids, and i wouldn't sell the truck b/c it only has about 116,000 miles and thats still a new car plus everything that you've invested on it. Its time to stop thinking hobby and start thinking family and wife.

I thought about the family car thing however my wife has the JEEP. Whenever we go out we use her car. Truth be told Marvin I really like these cars! I just don't want to have one with too many miles. Maintenance it part of owning a used car but the higher the mileage the more crap goes wrong with them. This is why ideally I would love to get a nice 96 LSC or a nice black on black Gen II as my daily driver then in a couple years I can buy that semi used/demo & leave the Mark as the hobby car!

I'm gonna need to throw the BS flag here. :bsflag:

Mileage on the odometer is no representation of condition, upkeep, or quality.

I see cars with 500k+ that are original drivetrain due to proper care. I drove a mint '96 town car limo service car with a MILLION miles on a `00% stock and originally internalled NPI 4.6 SOHC and 4r70w (the trans had been done 3 times), I almost bought it but laid the cash down too late, it sold. I had a Jeep cherokee with almost 300k. A 200k+ towncar. My mark has 172k. My '98 GTP had 165k, '96 explorer 5.0 AWD 165k, '92 Astro van with 180k, 3 '80's town cars over 160k, 3 Mark VII's over 160k. In fact, 50+ of the 75ish cars I have owned were over 150k. Some of the biggest turds I have had ownership of were low mileage. I had a 44k '90 Bill Blass Mark VII, looked PERFECT, it was a fawkin' lemon.

Your first sentence in the first post is confusing / conflicting with this. I'm assuming you have something else that needs to be paid off.

Sorry, didn't realize I had not been more specific, just went & updated the information!

I meant: "I HAVE 3 CARS + my wife's Jeep! My wife's Jeep is new & we still need to pay off!"

She owes 17k on that RETARDED Jeep Patriot. Has anyone driven those POS?!?!? OMG! Worst part about it? My inlaws went & bought the same EXACT Jeep while we were on our Honeymoon because they LOVE IT! WTF?!?!?!?

Ive seen them patriots they look nice from the outside but not a car i would drive around town....I dont know how you being a car guy you didnt change her mind on getting that jeep. A cherokee would of been better IMO. Alex like Jamie said listen to your heart and follow it. I know how you felt after driving that Cadi. B/C the same thing happened to me. I went to Disney and drove my LS and when I got back I sold that POS red Mark. The LS was a more reliable option, more comforable in every aspect and it felt lighter and quicker than the Mark. Plus its practically still a new car it only has 93,000 on the clock. The patriot can be your family car, I say go back to how you were for now. I say keep the truck it looks bad ass and its a real head turner. And keep the black Mark you can probably sell the red one and invest that money on the black one. Send it up to Jamies and have him do his thing.

I started thinking that's what you must have meant but wasn't sure. Yes, I have rode in and drove one of them (2008 Patriot) many times on a job and they suck. The seats feel like a concrete block, has no power. They ended up getting rid of it and getting an extended cab GMC truck and gave the Jeep to security to drive the property with. I'm sure the 2010's and 11's can't be much better.

Hate to say it but maybe she's the one that needs to trade in for something a little better lol. You sell the truck and take that money to put towards her trade in on something like a Caddy or MKZ, MKX and before anyone says anything, this is for a woman. They like "CUTE" stuff. At the same time, you would have some luxury.

Take one of your marks and sell. Use the money from the sale to put into the other one. Then you have a DD and so does she but you both have a "going out together car" if that makes sense. Gas is going up this summer so get ready to spend out the ass if you keep the truck or lets say, drive the truck. You'll get it all figured out.

In the time my wife & I have been together it's the ONE thing her & I didn't agree on. Her parents raised her very spoiled & when it came time for her to get a car in August of last year they said that they would provide her with $5k cash as long as she bought the car NEW!!!

I told her to hold off & get a used SUV ($13k or so) but her parents said NO!!! because she's a female & all females need to drive dependable NEW cars so that they are NEVER stranded. Mind you they don't know SQUAT about cars! I insisted on her getting a used car but my sister & my father told me one thing that was true.... "Step away from that desicion because if she does buy used & it ends up being a lemon then it'll be your fault!" SO I did just that & stepped back on a Thursday night, the next day they roll up in a $21,000 Jeep Patriot! They ended up giving her $3k for the downpayment! She owes $17k for it now & it's financed for FIVE years!!! She ofcourse knows nothing about cars & assumes she has an amazing Jeep.

Alex for that money you could of gottan a nice used Camry or a brand new Corolla...what were you thinking man?!?!?!?!?!

I bought my LS for 15,000 back in 07 with only 43,000 miles man. I got a nice luxury used vehicle at a decent price with warranty.

I would keep the truck. I miss not having a truck, they come in really handy. With the Mark's however I would sell both and get a low mile one.

Have fun with the institution on Marriage. :D

I'm going to wait a couple more weeks to see how things play out! I'm going to handle a couple things differently & see what route I go. I haven't had car payments in almost 6 years & yes I would miss my truck if I sell it but I definitely need a more agile, better handling DD.
Maybe I end up surprising everyone on here with a totally different outcome. ;)

Too bad guys in here will talk you down on getting an LS.

When i test drove mine i drove two of them and i was just blown away by how responsive the vehicle was.

Theres a reason they put it up against a comparable bmw 540i in 2003 and it smacked it around in every test.

The aftermarket isnt great but if youre looking for a sporty, luxurious ride with a V8 and rwd its there as an option. And we are very good at diagnosing issues over there. Ive had my 2006 for going on 6 months now and have done nothing but mods and general maintenance.

I have a hard time getting into other vehicles...they are feel slow and ride rough compared to it.
