What was everyone's first car?

First Car

My first car, bought by me, and not a 'hand-me-down', was a '34 Ford five-window coupe with a worked-over '48 Merc Flathead. Cost $100. I sold the engine for $50 and built a '55 Olds engine for it. It was channeled 11 inches but had a stock height top.

65 Mustang with the 289, 4 speed with gold color ari cleaner and valve covers, red with the red interior. It need some work to say the least. I paid $300.00 for in 1976. Sold it 4 yrs later for $1000.00. And bought a 80 turbo Mustang with 4 speed and the TRX package.

Ahhh, memories....

1964 Buick Wildcat 310 Aluminum Block V8

I loved that car, bought it for $200 and the only thing that ever went wrong with it was the starter. It was the middle of winter, a friend of my dad's was gonna help me change it, so he got under there, cussing about how tight the bolts were. He broke the head off the bolt only to realize that it was left hand threaded. My dad scrapped the car while I was off at Military school cause he didn't think I wanted it anymore. Then I really started getting into cars and bought my share of beaters...

Rambler- what dat be?

My first car was a beautiful 1968 Rambler American 4 door with three on the tree and a massive straight six (252 cubic inches of screaming American muscle). My dad bought it for me my junior year in high school for $300 in New Mexico.
Sold it to my older brother two years later for $600 and bought a '68 Chevelle SS396 for- hold your breath- $600; but the engine blew a few months later. Of course, I had nothing to do with that.....

The 1980s convinced me to dump GM and move to Ford land- been mostly grinning ever since- especially with my Mark VIII ('97) and LS ('00).

'41 Ply

'41 plymouth that was 11 yrs old when I got it. Am I dating myself??

My dad just sold a somewhat rough '41 business coupe. It went to a guy, who got started right away, and put a GM 305 in it....yuk!

57 Premier

The first car I bought was a 1957 Lincoln Premiere Coupe, paid $65.00, it needed a battery. 300hp 368 w/turbodrive.

Did yours have a plate on one of the rocker covers that said..."Turnpike Cruiser"...?, or was that just in 56?

66 Polara

66 Dodge Polara- I put this car through pure hell, before finally totalling it.

Followed by:
70 Mustang Mach 1 (wanted more power!)
70 GTO (traded it when gas hit $1 a gallon... dumb)
74 Toyota Celica
67 VW Beetle (267K miles)
86 VW Cabriolet (piece of crap)
89 Isuzu Trooper (ugly but reliable)
97 Isuzu Rodeo (still have it)

I took my first driving test in a '66 polara, 2 door hard top, with a 383 4bbl.

66-67

My first car was a 1967 Ford Fairlane 500XL Fastback. Baby blue with black deluxe interior with bucket seats and console. It had the factory 285hp 390 2-bbl V-8 with Cruiso-O-Matic "Select Shift" automatic transmission. It also had power steering, but no A/C or power brakes. It had about 109K miles when I bought it and the only thing I had to do was put in new carpet and redo the driver's seat. I later installed dual exhaust before showing my a$$ and wrecking it at 120+mph and walking away without a scratch. I REALLY miss that car.

I loved my '66 GTA...it eventually turned low 12's, at about 110mph, it launched with the front tires about 2" off the ground, with street exhaust, and street legal tires.

My brother had the buick "Special" with that same engine in it. It had a 4bbl, and "3-on-the-tree"...very quick car!

First one was....1963 Impala SS 327 powerglide on the floor. Rusty, exhaust leaked, burned oil.....I Loved It!

My car was a 1993 Lincoln Town Car signature series dark blue with 135,000 miles on it. i think I bought it for $4,500 and sold it for $4,500 3 years later.

I had a '78 El Camino SS that I repainted and put a new motor and tranny in. My buddy backed into me one morning and crunched it.

'65 Ford Econoline van in Miami, FL. It boasted 240 cubic inches of raw 6-cyl power between the front seats. Got it in 1973 and had great fun fixing it up.

After it was stolen, I got a '64 Ford Galaxie convertible with a 352 and no a/c - a real problem in Miami. Gas hog even without A/C.

Favorite car had to be a '77 T Bird.

But the current '04 LS is the prettiest.

My list:

1988 Chevrolet Corsica (sold to my sister when she got her license & then she totaled it within a few weeks)
1991 Ford Explorer XLT (certainly the WORST vehicle I ever owned - then my brother bought it and sold it a year later, that person totaled it)
2001 Chrysler 300M (still have & trying to sell)
2000 Lincoln LS V8 (certainly the best of the bunch)

My wife's:

1996 Honda Civic LX (4-door)
2002 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Sport Edition
2004 Mercury Mountaineer Premier AWD V8 (now my wife & I both have vehicles from the Lincoln-Mercury family and we could not be any happier!)
