what to charge for labor?

I'm sure glad I don't live by many of you but if I do I'll remember that I should charge you the arm and leg for my service.

Charge him what you feel is fair. If you feel that he's using you then up the price and he'll stop bothering you.

Like I mentioned before ...

LOL

Put one of his hands in warm water while he was sleeping? No permanent marker doodling on his face? No duct taping him to the ceiling?

Boring!

If we would have been at HIS house, I might have tried the wam water trick..BUT.. NOT while he's sleeping on MY couch..haha

An as far as duct taping him to the ceiling.. uhmmm I didn't have 19 rolls of duct tape, and surely ONE ROLL wouldn't be enough to hold him up off the ground!

We "didn't axe murder" him, I'm sure his girlfriend is quite relieved.

And you two didn't mess with him? Put one of his hands in warm water while he was sleeping? No permanent marker doodling on his face? No duct taping him to the ceiling?

Boring!

And then we could have had pics of the event .... Not that KK has ever been abused and pics posted...

Wait until the Beach Party .... You better bring your Posse ....

I do the same thing 98, met a lot of Mark VIII lovers and idiots and have re-kindled owners love for their Lincolns, that is the best part ;)

if your worthy - you will want to learn, we will do it together (like we all seem to agree), if your not n just wanna pimp me - go pay a shop.

If your worthy and unable, free, if you want to pay me something, I wont turn it down.

Best one is a 68 Lincoln Cont Mark ,(I think)...dude had it for sale ON THE STREET!! I pulled up, talked to him for a while. He loved Tux.... make a long story short, went back in a few motnhs and he dropped about 4 grand it and had it totally restored and no..it does not sit on the street ANYWHERE anymore! lol

i do the same thing you do, and since i have been here in florida i have made about 12 local customer/friends with mark VIII's who i do many repairs for. i wouldnt even let someone finish telling me about a strut needing to be replaced for 20-25 bucks. granted like you , i want to keep them coming back, but i will not give my time away for pennies to maintain that, i know, the work i do and the prices i charge, one trip to a dealer and they would be flying back to me shop. i charge $60 bucks an hour to work on any mark VIII, i dont care who its for, unless my immediate family owned a mark, that would be different, but thats what i get. i think $50 is fair also, jacking the car up, removing the wheel, taking out the bolts for the upper balljoint, lower strut bolt, air line and harness to the strut, taking out the strut, replacing all this in reverse, $20- $25 no way, take it if you are willing too, i wouldnt myself though, i am alot different as i get older, many people used me for alot of stuff in my past, i dont take that bull:q:q:q:q anymore, want me to fix it, pay up sucka!

my shop is the cheapest in the area at 92 an hour something like that have him do it you teach the other side will give out eventully and he can do it with out needing your help which is nice to see an owner taking pride and doing it if its huge thats one thing like a gear swap etc not everyone has that know how

trip where in texas are you

got me a GOOD shop (finally!) over here and he only charges 75 an hour!!!! But doesn't do blend doors! ,lol....

Oh I know hun - Im thinking hard about buying that gen 2 I got posted in the cars for sale thread, it needs a blend door!!!

jamie - chickie ..... I want it soooo bad...still trying to justify a third Mark... Im holding out for another 96 LSC....but this one is a steel! I am riding the fence on this one.... and you two are making it hard to say no....dang it!

Is that one a LSC? I might have talked the wife into a storage facility for all the crap in our garage... now i just need 2k for the car. hah!

Yup it's an LSC Blair ;) and Im pretty sure he still has it, but it will be gone this weekend after he sits her out for sale!

Here is why you need 3:

1 as a garage queen, nice weather show car

1 as a daily driver/winter beater

1 as a performance car to take to the track, 4.10s, etc. and as back up to said beater.

The second two need each other so you can get to work but still have one in the shop at all times either getting repaired or getting faster.
