got a 95 mark, right rear speaker is going out. already have a full speaker system from infinity waiting to go in (spring time), and a rockford fosgate amp for the trunk. i was thinking about getting 2- 12'' rockford fosgate subs, not ported, in the box with no holes for air to get in/out. im not going to be doing any performance mods yet, so might aswell make the car look and sound nice no? let me no what you guys think, i think with those subs,(they come with an amp aswell), infinity speakers + rockford fosgate amp(for speakers), it will sound badass along with the pioneer premier receiver i have in the car already, i want some of that boom boom, not retarded like you see those 95 civics with stereos worth more than the car or it looks like its gonna blow up. lol. let me know what you think, thanks ! :D (hopefully i can get the 2 subs for xmas :) )

I have 2 12" type R in a sealed box. I have tried them with inverted phase and still think its just too much. I think 2 10" subs is more ideal in these cars. But thats me.

I think I'd swap head units to something a little better.

Kenwood eXcelon is my vote but everyone has their preference.

dude you lost me lol, i have no clue what that is. i have the mark viii manual to figure some stuff out, my dad was like you got the book, put it in yourself, he used to do car steroes/alarms on the side, i don't even know where to start haha, hopefully he does it for me, and ill learn by watching. hmm, im a kid so you know kids like alot of bass and boom boom especially cause all i listen to is rap music, so theres alot of bass in most of what i listen to, also listen to some rock from time to time. idk i gotta decide between 2 10's or 2 12's, whats a head unit? the radio? dont make fun of me if im wrong lmao, i have no clue what it is

headunit= radio

You'd prob like a pair of 12's ported. But unless you know how to build/tune the box i'd just stay sealed for now.

Nolimit, since when does the premier lineup suck?

A head unit is the brain of the system. Often times its the thing you put CDs into and use to adjust the volume/radio station. Often people call it the "radio", but its part of a greater system.

Set down the crack pipe and step away from the dead hooker.

Pioneer is better than Kenwood any day of the week. Boss used to get pissed at me cause I refused to push the garbage Kenwoods at the shop even though the store made WAY more on them.

Kenwood makes some ok stuff but as a whole they suck and reliability is sub par.
Only difference between Pioneer and Premier is the warrenty is doubled.

As for subs, unless its Infinity Kappa Perfects with lots of power for the main stage then 2- 12" subs is a bit much. Pair of 10" subs or a single good 12" is a better option if you want the music to sound like music and not just boom boom boom.

Don't recall saying that....:shifty: I just said I'd swap to something better. From the sound of his description, he has something older.
He never said that nor gave the impression. Also newer is not always better.

He wants "boom boom boom" but anyway, how is Pioneer "better" than the eXcelon line? As for the normal Kenwood stuff, no, I wouldn't want it but the eXcelon line is some pretty good chit Laser. I'm speaking about head units though. Not amps and subs or any Kenwood speaker. I have three Kenwood eXcelons right now and one was bought in 2001 and it still to this day works perfect and I never had one problem with it. Of course it doesn't have all the features that I have with my current one but it's still a nice unit with lots of settings.

Now I will say this. If I could get a Pioneer in the double din size with the LCD at a low cost, I would choose that over what I have now but it would have to be near mint condition or new. I'm not saying that Kenwood eXcelon is better than Pioneer, it's just that I prefer the eXcelon line. That's why I included in the sentence way up there that everyone has their own preference.

There are many Kenwood lovers on this site but the same goes for Pioneer too.

Oh I am just going off facts and experience. Dollar for dollar a Pioneer is a better deck than Kenwood. Used to be Kenwood would give more features than a Pioneer dollar for dollar but the Pioneers always sounded WAY better. Now the features are on par but the Pioneer still has superior sound. Moving to NAV decks then the story changes. Kenwood is garbage compared to a Z series. Then again I think all other NAV/DVD decks are lacking when compared to a Pioneer Z series. Always had the best screens and DSP and EQ and crossover and preamp stage.

But I am a big Pioneer deck fan (dont care for anything else in their lineup) and have pushed them for years so I dont have as much experience with Kenwoods. Only installed maybe 500 Kenwood decks or so.

And you did say Kenwood was better. You said that by saying "I think I'd swap head units to something a little better. Kenwood eXcelon is my vote but everyone has their preference."
While the Excelon series does have better pre amps and DA convertors vs the regular series their output is still harsh compared to the output of Pioneer and the EQ section leaves something to be desired.

I will give one thing to Kenwood, they have superior noise interference filtration.

Yes, I guess I did say they were better but really wasn't meant in the way I said it. I didn't say Pioneer sucked though lol. I know you love Pioneer but you're also into the NAV thing where I'm not. I mean seriously, where do either of us go that require NAV? :p I'm sure Pioneer probably is better when it comes to NAV but I wouldn't know. My phone is dead on with any navigational needs, provided I ever needed them (Samsung Infuse). I will also say something bad about eXcelon and that's that they are not user friendly at all. It takes a while to learn what button does what but once you use it a while, you get the hang of it. They have chunky remotes too or they do now. My other two have the slim design remotes. Not sure why they changed that.

Like you're a big fan of Pioneer, I'm the same with Kenwood but only with the head units in the eXcelon line. I would not own a Kenwood head unit if it wasn't from the eXcelon line and I guess the same goes for the Premier line for Pioneer.

if the box the fosgates came in is what they are supposed to have youll have the boom your looking for. if you give me the model number i can look up the parameters, and tell you what they are supposed to be in. i have 2 kicker 12 in my trunk and they slam when you want them too, but i dont usually ride around boomin like i was 20,

I seriously didn't say that Pioneer sucked. What you quoted is exactly what I said. I do recall saying something sucked on here lately but I don't remember what it was but I swear that I didn't edit that up there.

Laser quoted me lol :D I can't edit his quote.

Could have sworn you said that the Kenwood Ex was better then the premier.

:shifty:

Nope, well, in a way I suppose I did say that but you asked me "Nolimit, since when does the premier lineup suck" and I never said that. :D You did because you asked me when it started sucking hahahaha. I'm just messing with you so don't get all Laser serious on me. :p

I was just suggesting something better and then I said Kenwood eXcelon would be my choice. So... in my own little way, I suppose I did say the Kenwood was better but without clinical studies, I can't say for certain. I will always pick eXcelon head units, over anything Pioneer makes though.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure i wasn't going crazy by thinking you made some mention of it.:)
