I'm in the process of removing the valve covers on my 1998 Mark V8.. Any tips on how to get them off successfully? I would also like to paint them, so if anyone has any suggestion on that I would greatly appreciate it.

Its a bitch, but it can be done without pulling much off the driver's side. It only took about 3 hours to do cause we kept knocking the seals off the spark plug wells.
Passenger side wasn't bad. I'd still like to get some VC bolts in stainless to match the SVT Cobra covers on mine.

I thought I would be able to do this just like I have done with other cars. I didn't realize what I had to do to get to the valve covers. I took off the brake booster for the drivers side and the wiper cowl. You just have to clear enought space to get the value covers off and on. Oh yeah, don't lose the brake booster rubber gasket.

I used ARP stainless 300 12-point bolts.

Thanks gentlemen for the lead. I did read the forum as suggested but I think that this will get me headed in the right direction.

That's kinda what I thought you might say. I've heard that the stock one isn't really a bad piece.

Except for the fact that with the stocker, casting is rough and has edges. I've been leaning towards getting an Accufab because it is completely polished smooth. That can't be a bad thing when air is traveling across a smooth surface rather than a rough one. I'd bet money that the Accufab has better throttle response.

Thanks!

Ordered them today from ARP. Check out the catalog at Totally Stainless on page 9 for our cars- polished 316 complete engine kits. Woo-hoo!
