So im trying to purchase a tune from blue oval chips and while filling out the spec sheet. it tells me to enter a valid EEC. I was pretty sure this was the strategy code you get when you check your car with the sct xcal. however it isnt taking and it tells me " Please enter a valid EEC code"

so whats a valid EEC code where do i get it?

something like that.

Is there a way to pull that info with out actually pulling the part its self ?

the computer is actually very easy to get to.
up above the gas and brake pedal, you pull off the plastic clip and then you can swing the computer down.
read the code, and swing it back up. easy.

Ok cool. so is there anyway to find out what it is with out actually pulling the computer ?

My google search skills are sucking at the moment and what is the point of the "strategy" code then ? i thought that was the "catch" code required to upload a tune

There can be alot of different #'s in the same year. That's why you have to actually read the code off your computer.

Maybe my google fu is better then i thought

not really.

it has to do with how the computers were written and what files were put on them for a particular car.

if you're running a tweecer or similar, you need to know the strategy code, but for a chip, most tuners only need to know the catch code.

its really not that hard to pull the 'puter.. like chris said just pull the clip and jiggle it till it swings down. then just put er back :)

yea im gonna do that in the morning. i want to be 100 percent with the proper info when it comes to a mail order tune.

Thanks you all for the info.

I had to do the same thing a while back; no need to pull it out
...remove the LH door bottom plastic and rubber weather stripping then the plastic trim panel to the left of where your left leg is when you're driving, u also have to pull the plastic cover that sits above your knees; light up the area and stretch your face up there; i couldn't clearly see the code, so I snapped a photo with my phone-camera....my tune rocks, 3rd gear goes FOR-EVAH!

After it changes into 3rd, how long until the TC locks? I hate how early mine locks. And before i even know it, I'm in 4th at 40 mph.
I'll double check later, but (w/ OD OFF) it seems to pick up 3rd around 35-40 mph; and then can stay until about 65-70 mph with modest to accel.....my custom tune is the best $$ (260) I've spent on this ride so far...that mushy spot around 40 mph and 2400 rpm's is gone daddy gone!...shifts stiffer as well, feels almost like a manual

So i just ordered my tune. Anyone know what the turn around time is for an email tune from xlr. should i not expect anything for a week or so. or should i start getting all pedal happy soon.

I I have better driveability when I leave od off until I am over 40mph. The reason it is like that is for best fuel economy. A tuner can change things to make the car a bit smoother under lighter throttle conditions, but sometimes you have to request those changes. From what I recall, I think my tuner said he could diminish the effect some by delaying lock-up under lighter throttle conditions until a higher mph. I decided against it because once that parameter is changed, you cannot force earlier lockup under light throttle conditions where you may want it to happen for better economy. My od button gives me that flexibility. Try turning your od off at lower cruising speeds. It does make a big difference in the way the car acts. I use my od button probably more frequently than the brake pedal. Lol. I think my high stall and deep gears exacerbates this effect.

Man this waiting stuff sucks. its almost been 10 days since i ordered the tune. i wonder if ill get it before the 1st
holidays, alot of those performance shop guys are covered up
