Trying to buy a tune but it says EEC code

Man this waiting stuff sucks. its almost been 10 days since i ordered the tune. i wonder if ill get it before the 1st

Don't feel bad, I have to wait till the 28th before some exhaust tips will even ship out, not including the days it they will take to get here. I ordered from Jegs. None of it is being installed until after the 1st but still, the waiting does suck. I can kinda understand your wait but I don't understand mine. It's only tips and they have them in stock. Just box them, tape them and ship them.

Just remember, good things come to people who wait. :) You never want to rush a tune or you might be rushing it right back in the mail to be done again. Patience!

I I have better driveability when I leave od off until I am over 40mph. The reason it is like that is for best fuel economy. A tuner can change things to make the car a bit smoother under lighter throttle conditions, but sometimes you have to request those changes. From what I recall, I think my tuner said he could diminish the effect some by delaying lock-up under lighter throttle conditions until a higher mph. I decided against it because once that parameter is changed, you cannot force earlier lockup under light throttle conditions where you may want it to happen for better economy. My od button gives me that flexibility. Try turning your od off at lower cruising speeds. It does make a big difference in the way the car acts. I use my od button probably more frequently than the brake pedal. Lol. I think my high stall and deep gears exacerbates this effect.

If you're on a stock tune, are you saying keeping OD off under 40mph improves fuel economy?

No. The o/d off is only for better driveability. i.e. hunting in stop and go or the early overdrive condition that is the nature of these transmissions at lower cruising speeds. It's a lot more tasking to pass someone at 40mph if the car is in OD than it is to just give it more throttle in 3rd. No downshift is needed then. I think the tranny is less worked that way.

i did use a gps to figure out my speeds. but since the gear is changed and the speed-o gear is the same it also jacks the shift schedule up. nothing like being in 3rd gear a half second after you got into 2nd. and by 30mph. its neat. let me tell ya.

I hope you're not surprised by that. ;)

nope which is why i was at least hoping my speed-o gear would of gotten to me on Saturday. im expecting to have it Wednesday. will be kinda nice to see how the car reacts with a proper speed-o. i understand the shift points will still be off but they should be a lot better i hope.

What speedo gear did you get? I have the 23-tooth black and it was fine with the 4.10s. I'm even still using that same gear now with the 4.30s and all is well. Another reason why I turn o/d off. It does come quite early but nothing like it would if I still had the stock speedo gear. I vote that you will be fine. You might use your OD button more frequently but it won't be anything like it is for you now.

the black 23 tooth. its only temp as i plan on installing a speed cal. you know i dont think i ever turn over drive off unless out having some fun.

So I sent in am e-mail asking if it was to late to change the type of tune. my retarded ass selected 91 premium because thats what my old gas station used to use. then i realized where i go now and a few other places are all 93. I got my reply tonight. I was told he emailed my tune to me on the 18th. i was like damn it man. so he resent it right away. Which was a total surprise and to me the best Xmas gift i received yet.

Anyway im pretty stoked. i loaded it up went for a ride and to be honest im a little scared of it. mostly with how hard my transmission shifts after doing the dirty dog valve body kit. I hit WOT from the line and it screamed hard core and when it hit the first shift i swear it was near 6500-7000. I am not sure how comfortable i am with that however i must say i was trying to keep my eye on the road.

my first impressions are pretty nice. the car has a different idle to it it seams like it got even quieter actually. the shift points are much higher. I did not notice improvement in mpg's of course i was busy stomping the crap out of it. there are a lot of adjustable options that i need to learn what they are and how they effect my car as well.

over all im pretty stocked right now. i cant wait to find a safe spot to record some 0-60's and just have some fun with it.

you have a 96 right?
if so, you have beehive springs. so the motor should be alright at that rpm.
the torque converter won't be a fan, but....

Who did you have write the tune?

Lonnie at Blue Oval Chips.

Yes I have a 96. I have no clue what beehive springs are and im pretty sure the torque converter is going to fail in the next 6 months. but hey thats a good reason to get a higher stall one right

well starting in 96, Ford updated the DOHC valve springs to a new style. theis style of spring resembled a beehive.
the shape cuts down on harmonics, which play a large roll in valve float.
as a result, valve float is reduced, and higher RPM is possible.

see the taper in the beehive spring?

As you can see, I have a 5-star review on this converter at the bottom of the page. ;)

CircleD and Edge are 2 great converters that come to mind. I have nothing but good things to say about the CircleD and my buddy has ran an Edge in his 13.41 second Vic since 2008 and sprayed a 150 shot on it over and over again. You may find the Edge to be more reasonably priced. Both can handle 7000 rpms no problem. Chris has a valid fear about the stock converter. That's why the aftermarkrts have anti-balloon plates.

I guess I'm just waiting for the failures :( since I've been revving mine near 7K quite a few times (my boss/friend keeps telling me I'm gonna blow it up).

I have a '95 LSC, so I have the old springs AND the original converter! I've got a second set of heads going in for 3-angle valve job, PnP, Cobra cams and some beehives. Also have a smaller converter going in even sooner!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! Happy New Year! :D

BOC knows you have a 4.10, right? I didn't notice anything like what you describe when I got my tune, I still have factory base gear, i also don't have the Jmod...yet...

Congrats! Have fun with it. I'd like to see an acceleration video if you could possibly do that. :D

Here are two really crappy videos :) one was with traction control on and overdrive and the other was both off. sadly i didnt get grip on either run. and the second run just felt like it wasnt there. I think i pulled off shallow at the end of the second run. but its close enough.

try not to mind the two idiots talking. one is me and the other is my camera man.

what was funny each time i hit the gas the moon roof door slid open in a hurry. the tires spun like mad. I'll try and catch a couple videos where the car hooks and goes it can and does do a lot better then what these video shows.
