Ok guys I've used the search function on LVC & can't find anything. Only thing i found were these 2 threads & well... They didn't help much.

Hopefully you guys can shine some light on this! It's a simple question for those that have installed your gauges on your Defroster Switch Panel. How did you guys clear the tabs that hold the wooden console frame behind the gauges? I'm doing this to my Mark now but I'm stuck! My gauges don't fit! They hit the tabs behind the panel. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

It looks like those tabs will need to be cut. As long as the clips by the shifter and up on the top left and right are tight, it will fit snuggly.

Forgot to mention, clips on the shifter are not holding after I installed the shifter boot. I can press them down but you see them pop up slowly & 5 seconds after I pushed them down they pop right back up. The entire bottom of that shifter frame is depending on those 2 screws. :(

How much of the gauge housing body hits the mounts, could you cut the body to clear the tabs?

Those are definetly some shallow gauges and you also made those bezels which pulled them almost flush on the back side.

Here's mine, probably the one you were thinking of...

My gauges are very skinny though, since they're fully electronic. I didn't have any fitment issues whatsoever.

Your gauge thread is one of the threads i mentioned above. It's great. Beautiful install but It didn't help much because your gauges are really thin. Mine are about 2 inches deep.

I think you're probably gonna need one of these...just cut the gauge in half. :shifty:

seriously though, you may end up having to cut the bezel mounts in some way.

Or, you could mount the gauges so they stick out further, without touching the pieces behind them.

trim half of those two tabs off (both the plastic shifter bezel part and the steel structure behind it) so they don't stick up so far, and redrill some smaller holes as close to the bottom as possible, use some small screws..all it has to do is hold the plastic shifter bezel down.

Definitely not going to mount the gauges so they're sticking way out. That would look hideous. I'm going to disassemble everything again tomorrow & see if I can make the shift boot fit without it bulking up underneath the bezel. Otherwise I'm fvcked! I will have to remove the boot. I guess I will update you guys tomorrow. Feel free to chime in on any other ideas however common sense is telling me there are no other ideas at this point. Hey, 2 objects can't occupy the same space at the same time right? lol.

Roll the windows up and shut the door.. youre just looking for excuses to sit on the couch

Its raining here too, thou mostly fog.. I'm bout to fire up the torch and work on my heater. Gotta get that thing built before winter actually sets in here

You have Winter in Texas? :D

DONE!

I manged to work around the bulky shifter boot & the bottom clips finally clicked in place so I knew I could count on them holding the bezel in place. Now I no longer needed to rely on those screws behind the defrost switch panel. I removed the metal bracket, chopped off the tabs that were in my way with my grinder, installed it back on then did all the electrical wiring for both gauges however I still need to finish the oil pressure gauge. It still looks pretty damn awesome!!! Check it out guys!

Very sweet, Alex!!! Now you won't have to screw with removing the ac/heater controls to remove the bezel, either. This I would appreciate. :p

Looks awesome, man! And I like the look of the shifter boot. The only thing that might make it better is a functional boost gauge next to the defrost switch. ;)

Looks sweet Alex. I like the shifter boot idea also. Definitely put green sleeves over the bulbs in the gauges, to help tone down that bright light at night.

Love the look and the placement, who needs heated seats in a summer only car anyway. I plan to do this set up over the winter and this post will have certainly helped.
