Trans Fluid

What type of trans fluid do you guys use and how many quarts? i want to go with a simple fluid. nothing high performance.

Any quality MERCON V
For a filter change I think it's close to 4 quarts, but check it as you fill it so you won't overfill it. For a complete change including draining the torque converter IIRC it's closer to 12-14 quarts, depending on what kind of cooler you have and other factors.

yeah im completely draining it so ill get 14 quarts to be safe.

12 quarts will do it if you don't have an aftermarket cooler. 12 fills it complete, if you drain the TC too.

That should do it because I completely changed out transmissions in my 94 with a 98 trans and 12 filled it up right on the spot.

ok sounds good. im replacing 1-2 accumulator springs and pistons, 2-3 accumulator piston, im j-moding the valve body and putting in new gaskets, replacing the trans filter and trans pan gasket, and putting in a new sensor and mlps. for some odd reason my trans is slipping into third and i dont think its the trans itself that needs to be replaced so im starting off with these. hopefully it works!

Make sure you drain the torque converter also.

The J-Mod and swapping in the new updated 1-2 accumulator and putting in a new TCC should do the trick for you without messing with the 2-3. Just my opinion.

2-3 accumulator piston was also updated, so he might as well do it while he's in there.
