Well, My F250 is totaled.

I was running up I-25 Saturday morning to work when it happened. I was minding my own buisness doing 70 MPH in the passing lane when a Dodge Cummins whipped out from in front of a Semi I was passing INTO my lane. For some odd reason he then slammed on his brakes. This caused me to slam on mine and thats when everything went bad.

The rear end kicked out from behind me and before i could even think of reacting I was in the median. When the truck hit the dirt, the weight of the engine/tranny dug the tires into the soft soil. That combined with the momentum, flipped the 7000 LB truck 4 times.

I had my belt on, but nothing else survived. My glasses were thrown off my face never to be seen again. People were amazed I actually opened the drivers door, and hopped out like nothing happened.

I'm hurting now, but not nearly as bad as I sould be.

I suffered a couple of cracked ribs, Severe whiplash, major inner brusing, and a jacked up knee.

The guy that caused it just kept going, so i have a man hunt going looking for him.

I'm gonna miss my truck.

Mike

Thank goodness you survived. Hope your recovery is speedy. It's a shame nobody caught the dirt bags plate number. Hope he gets found so he can spend some jail time.

When I traveled I always like big Iron around me. I had a brand new Navigator and was stopped in traffic on I-75 when I got rear-ended by a large Chevy cargo van that was doing 65 MPH.(Driver was reading a book). I got to drive away from that--really. There was $27,000 worth of damage and rentals to my ride, and it got fixed as it was new, but I survived.

While your healing you might as well start looking for a replacement, I know we discussed this in the past.

Hope you feel better soon!

good to know your ok mike, rich texted me the other day, i just aint been home for a few days i rolled my moms s-10 when i was 19~or something people were amazed that ms chicken and i were basically unharmed, shaken and a stiff neck but that was it

I am very glad that you are ok Mike it will take time for you to heel up, you can use that time to look for a replacement. Debi txt me thats how i found out.

You are OK & that's the important thing. I would say you are a lucky fellow! Hope that you heal up & feel better soon!!!

Glad to hear your OK Mike. You are very lucky you wern't more seriously injured. Its just a truck. It can be replaced. You, on the other hand, cannot.

Glad you are O.K. Mike!!
Sometimes we at the truck plant wonder why they try to save money on parts we install while building the superduty truck. A cheaper frame or body welds could have been a castrophy! Glad to see that nothing has been sacrificed to the integrity of the truck, and it stood up to the ultimate test...keeping YOU safe.

its reasons like this that i will never drive a "Smart car" or any other dinky little hybrid thing, no matter how high gas goes.

like everyone else said whats inportent it that your ok. the truck can be replaced. it did seem like a nice 250

Well that sucks, glad you're ok. This makes me want to get one of those dash mounted cameras like the five-0 use, just for these kinds of scenarios. At least then you could track the bastard down.

Thanks guys................

I'll be fine. I don't know if I'll be getting a replacment for the Powerstroke any time soon. With fuel prices the way they are, it just does'nt make alot of sense. Were talking about buying a house soon, so I'll prolly take the insurance $ and hold on to it for a while.

Thanks for the concern though.

Mike

I have seen this happen before.

I watched a fellow change lanes and cause another mini suv to flip. He never even touched the brakes to see if the other people survived. We live near a military base and the ones in the crash were deploying with a car full of medical supplies. We wrapped them up and waited for an ambulance.

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt too bad and good luck on the recovery. The fellow who caused this will get his one day. You may not get to pass out the justice but some day it will come.

glad you walked away, sorry to hear about the truck she was pretty. Glad you were in a ford and not something else. you might not been around to post those pics
They are built that heavy for good reason. Its a truck, its ok to ride like one.

With fuel prices the way they are, it just does'nt make alot of sense.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. With fuel & diesel at the current prices, you know what that does to the sale price of a heavy duty truck?

Heck, I'm seriously considering a Navigator as a third vehicle just because they're so cheap right now.

With most of our work fleet being Ford pickups, I've seen this before. The crash rating is pretty good, as you so luckily have attested to.

The same can be said for Town Cars - and the ride and fuel mileage is much better. ;)

1st, sorry for your loss. 2nd, glad you are alright. Don't take offense here......

As far as your story, sounds like you got *owned*.

You're blocking the left lane. A guy behind you gets pissed and passes on the right. He gets in front of you and to let you know he was pissed, he hits the brakes. You over-react and slam on yours while poking at the wheel. With the rears up in the air, the rear fishtails, sending you into the medium for a quick carnival ride. The guy looks in his mirror and says holy-:q:q:q:q .

you have a point the idoit who caused the crash might not even have noticed he cause the crash or that there was even one. still should have been paying more attention to what he was doing.
