Damn it man, I finally convinced myself that I could spare some extra money to go grab those nice black door panels off of the car in the junkyard today. It has only been 6 days since I was last there. Well, I did what I usually do when I go to the junkyard and that is just walk the whole Ford section, just to see what they got. At one point I look 2 rows over and see the M8 that I need parts off of and one of the door panels is on the roof. Well, whatever I kept walking and finally got over to the car I needed parts off of. I look at the panel on the roof and it looked fine from what I could see, and I go to look at the passenger side panel that is still attached and its freakin butchered. I don't know about other people here, but I can't bring myself to cut/break things when I'm after a part. Even when I needed the carpet last week, I disassembled the seats and put them in the trunk so that they would stay dry. I didnt mangle a single part when I removed the center console either.

Anyway, it looks like they were after the window motors and just started prying on the door panels. They broke the structure on the passenger side panel, I could have maybe fixed it. The driver side panel where the vinyl is around the trunk and gas door buttons was torn off. The carpet too that is under the back window turned out to have a big hole in it so I didnt take it either.

Man, those door panels were MINT. Funny thing is that there are 5 Marks at this junkyard, and they picked the one with the black interior to butcher. Pretty much the only stuff worth a :q:q:q:q is the dash and the quarter trim interior pieces. I am considering going back for the dash, but I don't know...

The car is at pullapart in Charlotte if anyone is going down there.

I've seen people butcher fairly rare and expensive parts for stupid crap underneath. Pick-your-parts are the worst. The worst feeling is going for a part you really need and seeing it smashed beside the car because someone thought that it was fun to destroy something.

I do my best not to break anything unless its broken to start with. I have been known to cut wires though if i cant get them unhooked easy. Other than that i put all the removed parts back into the car or trunk for other people.

did the black one still have the console? If so i need one VERY badly for the convertible. How were the seats? did it have a decent grille? Let me know and ill be more than happy to paypal you the money.

I went last weekend to pull center console woodgrain for "go fast get tickets". Someone had destroyed it within the 2 weeks it was there. Looks like they were after the shifter, but didn't even take it.

The seat covers were okay. The drivers headrest was ripped and the driver seat bolster was cracked and you could see the foam underneith in one spot. The rear seat is separated right at the very top of the seat under the back window. I gues the leather got really dry and tight and pulled the seam apart. I originally was after the center console too but decided against it... The felt inside the console itself was rubbed down to bare plastic in some spots and the carpet had been glued back on with what looks like clear silicone. I just figured with my own console that I would find a black lid and recover it with black carpet and paint it black.

The yard is about an hour away from here, I don't know if I am going back for a while since there arent any more parts I need.

Any users here live in charlotte? And jaime, you still gotta let me know what all black stuff you've got. I think I might try to find a set of Gen2 door panels, but we'll see what pops up first.

Also, the grilles there are ALWAYS broken... i've been casually searching for one too. Mine is nice but its black, I want a chrome one.

Oh, no :q:q:q:q? You wouldnt happen to have any of the harness with the switches would you?
