do the door ajar and check air suspension warnings have something in commom when both r on...being from the north could something be sticking..my car is in 4 x 4 mode right now...
 
What he said. The car should lower afterwards.
 
ok door ajar fixed but check air suspension warning comes on about 2 min after start up...car is sitting to high..air pump is working and bags r holding air
 
Too high & you're outta range for the sensors. You'll have to compress the front sensors.Cut the air ride switch off, Loosen the lower front sensor ballstuds, slide them up, tighten. Cut air ride back on. It should wake up. Unless there's other problems.
 
Cut is Tennessean for "flip the damned switch!"
Switch is also meant as a small tree branch that is used to whip bad children with. When Mom said "Go get me a switch", I would always bring back a large branch. It hurt much less than a switch.
Amber-lamps is a mystery, it probly came from Mississippi, or Miss-sippy.
 
Excuse me if I am wrong but why mess with all the sensor stuff? leave the switch on and jack it up it should vent. Sorry if I am wrong.
 
I think the OP is saying that the air ride is sky high. The front sensors would be stretched all of the way out. I had one pop off a while back & it caused that side to pump up all of the way. When I re-attached the sensor to the ball stud & reset the switch, nothing. After an hour of head scratching, I popped the sensor back off & pushed it up about an inch while my wife cut the air ride switch back on. Wala.... it vented. My best guess is that the sensor was streched so far out that it wasn't "sensing" properly, throwing the check message.
Although I suppose the OP could get a fat chick to sit on the front of the car!

ok shut the switch off in the trunk for a few days while driving..now air compressor won't go on..is their a reset switch.plus tried to adjust sensors..but nut just kept turning..any pics on what i should...bags r holding air but have to get the air to lower it...miss the air ride too
 
appreciate the fact u guys like to have fun on here alot and that is great but I work at a hospital and sometimes go 14 to 16 hrs a day so if I can get some answers seriously I would appreciate it ..not trying to be sour puss but my patients would think differently..sorrry
 
We were serious and gave you some advice. You lubed the switch and fixed one issue. We were all fairly sure that would have allowed the car to lower but since it didnt then more then likely your vent solinoid is stuck closed. You could open it up and lean/lube it and that may work or you may need a new compressor.

Tommy could prolly tell you whats needed to check the vent as I am just learning these systems myself.

My 97 was doing this.
The vent was pluged.

Sent Eddie at american air a e-mail because his web site said the pumps were out of stock.
The super nice guy he is he rebuilt one for me and had it in the mail in under a week.
If your bags are in 4x4 mode your pump won't pump.
If they hold air and not drop, beg Eddie for a pump.

Spider valve would also work I was told.....but also out of stock.

Adjust the front sensor itself. Loosen the top carefully....... raise it up, tap it up carefully....... make sure to get both sides in the same exact spot. Matter of fact. raise both sensors up as high as they'll go and then tighten them back but tighten them carefully. That stud can break off with ease and that part ain't something that is setting on the shelf at Auto Zone. They ain't cheap either unless you want to wait for one of us here to send you one.

Raising them up all the way would be sensor lowering the front end, if it works. Raise and lower sensors to desired height when things start working again.

Cut the switch off and on a few times just to make sure it knows it's on and not off. Your switch could have accumulated moisture over time and isn't making a good contact, letting it know that the system is on.

Got that? Raising the top of the sensor will make the front end want to ride lower. Compressing the rear sensor will make the car want to ride lower. Do the adjustments while the switch is off. That's all I know to tell you besides checking the air ride relay.
 
I agree it's likely the vent solenoid inside the compressor {a non serviceable part)

to fix, you would need to replace the compressor, or replace the vent solenoid with one from a working compressor.

The non corroded vents are getting harder and harder to stumble upon in Junkyards..most are very well corroded.

I agree, and if it's indeed stuck closed.. thank your lucky stars that it didn't stick in the open position.

Atleast with a stuck closed vent, the system is sealed {for now} and a spider valve will solve the issue, so long as the vent doesnt continue to rot out and start leaking later on.

Usually, once they have frozen shut..and you bypass them with a spider valve..you are good to go, because the moisture doesn't get pushed back into the vent solenoid area any longer.

Only problem with the spider valve IS.. "availability".

Currently they are on back order, Eddie is waiting for time to build the next batch..Currently I've got a buddy that's been waiting (not complaining) for about a month for a spider valve.

Apparently Eddie is having some problems with his sons health..so.. ya'll be patient with the guy, he's "got a life" too.

Well that is what you told the guy who had my car.
He just never did it.
And you were correct....again.
