So I got my steering pump replaced and when I pulled out the belt was squealing real bad. It didn't make any noise at all before so I knew he got power steering fluid all over it. I told him I have a new belt in the trunk I always carry with just in case, so to just throw that on. He told me it's not necessary and the slip will go away after a few miles. I told him ps fluid is oil based so no it won't just go away. Well it didn't...it got MUCH louder for the next few days. So I said F it and changed the belt myself. No more squeal and car ran better. That was mistake #1 on his part.

Now today I go to change the oil. Other than the first time I changed it, I haven't had a problem since changing the oil. You just need to position it a certain way. Of course this time was a nightmare. I couldn't get the filter out for the life of me. Finally I used "brute force" ;) and yanked that sob out of there. I realize the problem was he positioned the hose clamp, and some additional clamp in the way so it made it impossible to get out. So in order to get the new one in without damaging it I had to loosen them, get ps fluid all over the place...put the filter in quick, then tighten it back up. Unfreakingbelievable! I know that thing wasn't there before because I didn't have this problem. It looked to me like he used an old clamp, and an additional clamp. Regardless he f'd it up and I'm not happy about it. Mistake #2.

God I can't stand how someone can't do their f'n job, so it results in much more work for me. I can't wait to call them tomorrow....

those spring clamps blow, specially that one i know exactly what you are talking about, if the clamp is in the wrong position it makes getting the filter off nearly impossible.

Spring clamps need to go back on the hose exactly where they came off or else they could start leaking

And you better turn every the same number of revolutions back on as you did off or all hell could break loose.

You poor bastard!! Are there any original parts left to replace?? In this housing market, you could have probably bought a house for the same money you have in that car. Hope your luck changes soon!

Man your luck sucks dude. I really hope things get better for ya. That reminds me of the time I had the shop install new front rotors on my '94 4x4 Explorer because I was too dam lazy to do it myself:D. When we got it back, it drove fine for a few days, then it started pulling hard to the right. I took the right front wheel off and the fruggin caliper was almost ready to fall off. The fixed calipers on Rangers and Explorers were mounted with pins, not bolts, and they didn't put the pins in all the way and they didn't snap in properly and worked their way out. That was scary. And get this, when I got the exhaust done on my wife's '97 LSC last week, they also balanced the front tires. I drove it to work Sunday and it started shaking and vibrating horribly. I pulled off the road and checked the lugs. Guess what? They didn't tighten the lug nuts on the drivers side!!! I don't think I'll be taking anything back to that shop. So I kinda know how you feel dude.

He put on two clamps though. There's the spring clamp which he put upwards on the ps line and then used a band clamp with the adjustable screw where the tube meets the pump. That adj band clamp was not there before...or if it was it was flipped the opposite way. He put a brand new line on for me so I think he f'd something up.

Yeah my luck hasn't been the best with this car...I sure hope it does change soon.

Ya shoulda let the wheel fall off by driving around in a parking lot, then let them replace everything

I've seen that happen 3 times from NTB, and I've had a customer come in my shop complaining of suspension problems/ rough ride, on a 1 ton Dodge, the shop that just put her new shocks in, ordered shocks for a 1/2 ton (which are twice as long) and installed them by collapsing the shock completely so it would fit..so when she hit a bump, and the shocks were already fully compressed, they busted the frame apart
