Ok so I finally got my car tuned a couple of days ago and now its just one thing after the other. First the guy pulling my car on to the dyno says the brakes arent working very good. Ten minutes later brake fluid just starts leaking everywhere from the front oif the car. That brake line that goes accross the front of the car thats hidden under that plastic cover was rotting but luckily the guys there at MPE Racing were pretty cool and they let me fix it myself so it didn't get too expensive but it was a pain to bleed them after. It ended up only putting out 6.2PSI so that was a little depressing and it made 311HP and 269ft lbs. I'm not done yet, Last night when I was driving on the highway I decided to open her up, so I did and it felt good but after I started slowing down the S/C started whining alot louder now it sounds like a bad PW Steering pump but really really loud. So I'm thinking the bearings are bed in it or something. I'll post a sound clip up later on and maybe someone can help me out this is all very depressing. I think I know how Laser fealt now but not quite as bad.

Thats a bummer. I forgot all about this thread.

The blower will chirp and sound like a bad power steering pump anyway. Thats one thing I didnt like about centris is that tell tale chirp they give away at idle, I like the uber stealth.

Your HP numbers are in line with the boost, I only have 25 more hp or so at 7.8lbs. Your TQ numbers seem really low though, I am making 100 more and the difference shouldnt be that much. Then again I dont know what the centris numbers should be.

At any rate I would check to see what your ACTs are and put a smaller pulley on the blower to bump it to 10-12lbs. With an intercooled setup you should have no problem at that boost level and see closer to 380rwhp.

Whats your timing limits? Did he change the knock sensors timing controll ammount? Whats your tip in spark at now? What size injectors are you using? What about MAF meter? Stock will be almost maxed at your power level. Hell, at 8psi I am using 80% of my 90mm Lightning MAF meter.

The chirp is normal, the buzz is not. Sounds like a bad alt but its really hard to pinpoint from a video..... well impossible really unless you film it in Dolby 7.1 :lol:
 
I wish I knew wut caused it though cause it didn't sound like that the day before, I took the return line off and started it up and oil was coming out of it so its getting oil.
 
Was that a used kit you bought? May need a compressor rebuild.
 
Yeah the S/C and bracket are used and everything else is brand new. I have 42lb injectors, 255lph pump, I didn't end up using the intercooler, and yeah thats pretty much what I figured I'm gonna cal Vortech on Monday morning to see how much it with cost and I'll probably order a smaller pulley when I do that. I just want to make sure that its not something I did that screwed it up so I dont screw it up when I get it rebuilt.
 
No I did not. I have to get them to email me the dyno results I forgot to ask them for it when I finally left.
 
I think the biggest pain was the intake before the S/C cuase the Vortech one wouldn't fit between the engine and the fan so I had to make that one myself and then I still had to make some adjustments to the fan to get it to fit. I actually kind of wish I went with then KenneBell setup like Laser, but its done now.
 
I wonder if its possible that it only put out 6PSI because theres something wrong with it.
 
Smart move keeping the IMRCs, only a blower like mine would work better without them...... hence, why I dont have any anymore. :D But the IMRCs will help while the Vortech is spooling.

6 psi is right for the base Vortech kit and I wouldnt run much more then that without the intercooler setup. You really should hook that up.
Let me put this into perspective. My Cobra would see 110* intake temps when it was 95*+ out and would go as high as 140* under full boost. When I upgraded the coolant tank and heat exchanger the IATs never went above 130*.

Now with no intercooler I see 130* IAT when its 100*ish outside and after a 1/4 mile at full boost my IATs hold at 220* :eek:!!
When I did a speed run I saw 230* at the end of 3/4 mile and while the car was still going like a raped ape I got out of it for fear of making it go KA-BOOM!!!

I need a meth kit so bad. Gonna save up over winter since pretty soon it will be cool enough out to have a mother nature intercooler.


Anywho, install teh intercooler. I realize what a PITA it will be but if I could have a regular one I would carve up the nose to make it fit. ..... ........ bring it by! Ill install it for ya!
