Sapperfires NEW 93 blue on blue progress thread.

Take the ABS light bulb out for now if it bothers you that much, not to mention they'll never think twice when they go to inspect it LOL

Dumb question but I havent seen it mentioned... have you checked to see if there is anything intefering with the ABS sensor rings and the sensors? (metal shavings and such)

Also, ABS sensor rings can get rust under them and the rust expands, cracking the ring... have you checked your rings for cracks? if so, the ABS sensor will not read the gaps correctly. Happened to my mom's '08 Ford Escape but is a common problem on a lot of vehicles... just a thought.

inspections lol, what are those?

I was thinking the same thing. I would hate to know I lived somewhere that had to inspect my car all the time and it had to live up to their expectations. Mine would pass but that would be annoying, not to mention the stickers that have to be all up in the windshield. Been driving for 26 years and never had a car inspected one time for anything except window tint.

Hell its the Wild West out here in AZ. You never have to get an inspection here just an emission test. In fact even when I bought my car in CA and brought it back to AZ all the inspection was they looked to see if the VIN was correct. What a joke.

thats the way KS is when you buy an out of state vehicle in MO i think they do a real inspection

I've taken the bulb out, but I still like the system that helps my car to not smash into things to work correctly

I've checked the WSSs and they are fine

No smog here but on safety they check the regular stuff and CEL plus ABS lights. My 96 Cobra had a bad sensor and tripped the ABS light. They failed it for that.

you and your "legal tint" tickets lol

in BFE IL you hand the dmv the title. they dont even look out the window at the car, no safety, no emissions. no nothing.

up closer to chicago they do emissions but not out here

My girlfriend is from joilet illinoiSSS just moved back to texas a year ago. Funny how she can't be outside in the texas cold.

in mass they have safety and emissions and they will fail a car if it has a rust hole the size of a dime. i know i worked in an inspection station for 6 years. mass is bad on inspections. but here in florida there is zero anything, you put your car on the road and thats it, you are done! thats why you see drag cars and cars held together with tape driving on the road, and no height limit here either there are trucks here that would cripple a school bus!!

Virginia sucks for inspections and emissions as well. The emissions is why I have not put on my Cobra intake yet, I need to have the EGR deleted and need the computer not to throw a code. I had my rocker panel replaced because it would have failed due to the rust hole it had.

I hear stories from my family all the time about old cars and passing inspection back when we lived in New Bedford. I couldn't imagine it here in FL. I have had to do some real Maguyver stuff to keep from being stranded or to keep a car going to get to work. I don't like doing scary stupid stuff to cars that can risk lives, and I think some of these cars that are way outta wack are polluting badly and ought to be fixed. However, I don't want to be at the mercy of some inspection shop chump who's having a bad day and fails me because his wife hit him before work.

Well we started late Saturday pulling the GMAN car apart to swap the motors. Was pleased to see the harness had no broken plugs so I was planning on using it instead but plug clips started breaking just by looking at them. Then the wires started to have their jackets break off when moving them so we elected to not use that harness. Then every damn vac line was broken or broke when I moved them. Fortunatly I just completly redid the old cars vac setup with all new hoses and fittings so I will just reuse them.

We got both motors pulled and started swapping over all the new gaskets and painted stuff to the new motor. Looking at the new motors internals its easy to see it is the preverbial little old ladies car. The oil and coolant have been maintained well and the engine was very clean inside and no corosion. The secondary intake runners and valves are completly carboned up from non usage too. So have to run some chemicals through it to help break everything loose.
We are almost done, everything is swapped and now we just have to slap the motor back in and should be good to go! :)

Worthless without pics. We... NEED TO SEE!
Here are some pics. We are not quite done but tomorrow should be easy. Its taking so long due to how we had to do it. We had to pull the new motor then seperate it from the k-member, re-install the k-member, push the car out, push the new old car in, drop its motor, seperate it from the trans, mount it to the stand, pull all its covers and lines, put them on the new motor then mount it to the old k-member..... ugh.

So here is the new car devoid of its go power:

And the pair of..... messes. The one on the left is the new motor with the old motors stuff on it:

Here you can see the milk shake in the pan. I havent looked in the bottom end yet to see what the dammage is but both valve covers had water/oil where they cover the timing chains. It looks like the passenger side head gasket went. Glad I just replaced the drivers side one.

When its done it should look like this:
