I am thuroughly shocked and in awe of the 93's. We just decided to finnaly run the cars and the results were not expected.

We did four runs. Two from a dead stop and two from a 20 MPH roll since his 93 was having major traction issues off the line.

His car has a dual exhaust with Flowmaster-esque mufflers and the smoother intake tube. Thats it.
My car has a tune, gears, free-er flowing exhaust, larger tires and thats about it for power.

1st run, dead stop launch.
He smoked hard on launch and it was an easy victory for me as my car just hooked and booked. At 80 I flashed my hazards to signal my win but noticed something disturbing..... he was gaining.

2nd run, launch from 20mph
Well I goofed. I forgot to drop the car in first and when I did the third honk I had to wait for the downshift. We ran anyway and I couldnt reel him in at all.... in fact he was power walking away from me.

3rd run, roll from 20mph
This time I had it in first gear and easily pulled away in first and second but when I hit 3rd he was still pulling second and caught me all to fast then pulled away. I didnt have a chance.

4th run, launch from a stop
Again, he had some traction issues but hooked better then the first run. I pulled nicely away from him and by 80 I backed off but since he was charging hard I got back on it but he once again was reeling me in.

So it was 2/2 for the day. This was kinda depressing with all the money I spent. I am very impressed with his 93 though.
I know with the air ride, braces, sway bars, my fat ass, moonroof and extra electronics that my car is heavier but still expected to win all runs.

Props to a nice blue on blue 93....... I just realized all you blue on blue guys have fast cars.

Your results are why I hope my modded 97 goes as fast as my stock 94 did. Does your tune have the timing pull between shifts removed? As good as my 4.10's are, I almost wish I had gone with 4.30's. I had no idea 4.10's were so liveable on the interstate.

93s are deceivingly quick I was dead even in my stock 93 with my friends s2000

so you'd win an 1/8th mile race to about 75ish but who would be ahead at 95?

Him. He was almost every time. Only once did we run to over 100 but I had him out of the hole really good. But when I hit 3rd he pulls me in very quickly. :(
Kinda makes me want to go buy the black on black 93 and swap all my suspension, brakes, exhaust and pumpkin over then sell the 98.

you never baselined the car, so its a crapshoot.

lets say worst case second gen turd base line 15.3
a good running 93 is 14.6-14.8

do the math...
then consider, how much does sapp'rfire weigh?
then look at those big heavy wheels vs sapp's very light lacy spokes...

he just went all spidey on your big saleen wheel havin azz

isnt that almost verbatim as to what i told you about my modded 95 and tiffs STONE STOCK 93?

i guess you thought i was just making crap up when i sais it takes 1-1500 in mods to keep up with a 93.

remember i told you my only hope was to "tree the crap out of her" and hope she didnt reel me in on the big end?

you need to take em to the track...get some real data.
butt-0-meter street racing doesnt tell the story.

you also need to datalog acceleration rate on a dead stop wot 1-2-3 <-dont go to jail!

I figure his car is 3/10 faster in the quarter and with driver I have prolly 450-500 lbs on him. I know each wheel/tire combo is 14lbs heavier. And then I have another 50lbs in sway and braces. And then I am a fat ass and hes a twig. But I still figured I had 30hp on him and 3 sizes steeper gears plus the traction advantage. All for not though. :(

*throws temper tantrum*

So what is it about 93's that make them so much faster? I know they have a rad spark advance at tip in but there has to be more to it then that. My trans shifts harder, launches harder...... I just thought it would do better. Car seems to have issues above 4k and the knock sensor does pull 5* at 4K..... wonder if my pump is failing. I have starved it prolly 3 times and people say its the wrong pump anyway. I think I will go get a pressure gauge and run it under a wiper and check pressure.

Yes and that was what I said to Sapperfire, verbatim. Well except I thought you said that was against you second gen.

So why is a 93 faster then a 95? I would imagine you would have it tuned.

need to run it against my car (come over)lol

also need to make it not lose 5 degrees of timing, either pull 3-4 degrees or chunk some fuel at it?

I'll run you Tommy...let me get my gears built and some sticky shoes :-D

I would be money the results aren't the same after you put the blower on :D

We'll find out in 2012, when the world ends.....;) Laser, you'll need a blower to keep up with a Gen 1 :p

I'm not sure if Jamie has swapped out PCM's in my 95 but to me, it feels like it has a lot more power than the 94 I had and the 93 before my dad crashed it. I still have the PCM from the 93 but it's the W3Z3, not the good W3Z2 and I'm going to try and swap them out to see if it works. I tried this swap into the 94 and the car wouldn't even crank. The 93 took a side impact on the passengers side and flipped the inertia switch. I'm not sure if the impact threw a code to the PCM to not work or not but will soon see.

It was a very fun few runs, and the only one of us that came out Dead last...was the poor rabbit standing in the middle of the road on our 3rd race

This is why I'm at a crossroads about even modding my 98 other than looks & maybe shift points & firmness, I started with a 93 in 02. All I ever did to that car was a j-mod & rebuild, swiss-cheese airbox mod, & sensor lower. I picked up my 95 in 04 & did a decent amount of work to it. Gears, trac-loc, ART cat-back, tune, coils & big wires, Walbro 255, & a sway-bar. The 93 would still walk all over it.
I sold the 93 to my brother after it went bald.
I sold the 95 to my other brother because my wife basically gave me this nice 98.
Now I have a 98 that literally gets eaten alive by the 95. & the 93 with well over 200K miles will still $hit on both of them.
I really should have painted & reupholstered the 93 after it started to look like a 93:)

did you manually turn off your traction control?

supposedly it pulls out timing even when your tires are not slipping..?
