i got a letter in the mail yesterday from ford and it says my car has not had recal 05s28 done yet for the speed control system that malfunctions and causes a fire even if the car is off. has anyone had this done ??

Everyone but you has had it done.

In my car it took them 5 minutes. In your car you will need to leave it there for a bit.

Just go do it, its free and may save the car.

Does it matter? Its a known fire hazard and Ford will fix it for free.

I believe its for brake fluid level.

 I've gotten 2 letters for that soo far, first one came a week before I wrecked it... second one came about 3 days ago... I wasn in the pick-a-part and snagged one of those recall harnesses... sure was fun trying to explain to them that it was a recall harness and Ford gives them away free and that they shouldnt charge me 10 bucks for it... freakin pirates... luckily I didnt pay for it. And I stashed a buncha :q:q:q:q on me and in my jacket anyway... LOL

This might be a dumb question but I took the 94 and the 95 in for the cruise recall. Earlier this week I get three letters, one for the 93, 94 and 95 saying that the recall hadn't been done. If this is a different recall, shouldn't they have had that in the system showing that it hasn't been done?

I'm confused because I have never been given a letter for any brake sensor since 2005 when I bought the 94 and when those letters all came in, I threw them away because I figured they were all for the cruise control recall.

93 was totaled
94 burned up anyway
95 is fine, so does it need to go for this too?

i went to the ford dealership yesterday to have this done... three hours later they came back saying they couldn't do it and i had to take it to the Lincoln dealership. They said it was a "special" lincoln. First they said they had to wait for the catalytic convertor to cool down before they could do it, then they said they would have to remove the master cylinder to do it. Bunch of :q:q:q:qing retards working at the dealership.

So 3 hours later and they still couldn't do it. Stay away from Ford of Ocala stealership [/rant]

I've heard it's a bit harder to get at on a 93

I dropped off my 98 came back in an hour and it was done

I still get a letter for a 93 that was wrecked 4 years ago...I called them before and told them the car was totaled, obviously they don't get it.

OH chit I thought it was just for GenI's, Gen II's also need the recall? UUGGGHHH I don't trust ANY service dealer with my car. And when they pop the hood, I don't know what they will say. Is there anyway I can do it myself?

Wish I hadn't disconnected mine now. Heap needs to burn.

3 notices thus far. Can`t seem to find a stealership that`s open at 10:30 at night. I just don`t have time to deal with it during the day. lol. Don`t drive the car much, even less now, got my one of my trucks back on the road. I think it`s quieter than the car on the hi-way.

93 is a pain but 94 up is easy as pie. I'd just disconnect the switch until the recall can be done.

Why are letters being sent to people that have had the recalls done? I have had two done at a well known Lincoln dealer that's been there since I was very young. I know it's been there over 25 years but anyway, I have had two done there and I still got letters for both cars and for the wrecked 93.

Damn, I just moved recently and lost my recall letter somewhere..........Can i just bring the mark in and they Run the VIN to see if its been done or does it not work like that?? Damn I hate dealerships, feels like im getting hustled everytime i drive past one......

Yes, they can tell from the VIN if it's been done.

I'm still trying to figure out if my '94 was done correctly or not. They installed a harness up near the master cylinder, but nothing down by the switch in the tirewell.
