I'm not sure how many of you frequent TCCoA.com since the majority of 4.6 tech is SOHC, and their focus is more toward birds and cougars than they imply but I wanted to show you all how far the bird has come. In a way it's Thundermark 2 for some of you. Anyway here is the link along with many progress pictures. The only pictures I haven't yet posted are of the air filter heat shield and of the cowling reinstalled, but I assure you all those items have been taken care of.

Looks great man! That's definately awesome. As for your a/c question, you will have to evac the system to install a new switch...

Very Nice. Yes there are some very impressive and fast Thunderbirds and Cougars over there. I visit there often. On one thread someone inquired about installing a DOHC in his Thunderbird and I replied why bother sell your Thunderbird and get a Mark VIII. Wrong answer. They were nice about it though. The closest supercharged specialist and tuner near me are Thunderbird guys and they have a small supercharged club going and I hope to meet with them some day at a track. There almost all faster than I am and they told me I better bring my Cobra. Jokingly

I've been following your build, looks good man! Can't wait to see some driving video!

Loooking great. I go over there to the site all the time, sucks that the membership issues keep lingering after what almost 2 yrs. But the project is coming along very nicely. How is the header and steering lingage issue, any?

Very nice project. Not for the faint of heart or skills and i looks like you did a great job on it.

As for your AC problem it could be a bad pressure sensor. You may also want to check the cooling fan. I didnt read all your thread so I am unsure if you have a Mark fan or not. Sometimes they get kinda goofy at the connector and will stop working. If you are moving the car wont overheat but because the fan is off the AC will shut down from pressure being too high.
Next time it shuts off open the hood and check to make sure the fan is still blowing. If it isnt then wiggle the connector on it and I bet the AC fires right back up.

Hope it helps.

I haven't gone through the entire build thread but I like what you have done.I am actually surprised that there are not more swaps like this.

Nice job.If I ever make it to Vegas I would like to see it in person.

I was unable to drop the engine and transmission in as a unit from the top with the cat attached to the manifold. So I cut the cat off, my local exhaust shop reattached it for me as well as fabricated a new down pipe to attach to my existing dual exhaust. They did a great job, they also added two o2 sensor bungs, one for my rear o2, one for my permanent Zeitronix wideband install. If I had more time and less frustration during the swap I would have dropped the K-member and not cut the manifold at all, but I was determined. As far as the steering linkage goes, just like the oil pan, it's all very snug but with a bit of room to spare. Eventually I will be upgrading to Kooks headers, unfortunately they weren't anywhere near the budget for the swap at the time. It's a two year upgrade goal at least.

Was there not enough room to just lift the cars nose over the engine and trans? When I R&R a Marks motor I just unbolt all the K-member bolts and front shocks and UCAs then lift the car over the engine with my engine hoist and slid it out. Can usually pull a complete motor and trans in under 1 and a half hours.

The wasn't enough room indoors to lift the nose over the engine so I dropped it in from the top. When I do my headers it will be in my shop instead of in my garage.

Just helped a friend do this exact thing to get the motor/trans out of a ford probe GT, and the hoist fell over and broke!

while I was standing on it to hold it down!
