Pissed @ my HID situation!

Nice to see more people ditching the stock setup.

Of the couple gen 2's i've swapped to aftermarket hid's ive never gotten the error code either unless accidentally bumping the headlight switch to auto on.

I wouldnt disconnect the system completely, its good to know when a bulb or ballast is acting up or burnt out and the message center still works like factory with aftermarket HID's.

I never use auto on anway, even with the stock HID's.

I feel like it takes unnecessary life out of the bulbs. When its getting dark I turn the lights on. I dont need the car to do it for me. :)

I never got a message in any of the 3 gen 2 that I converted to aftermarket hids. Gen 1 seem to do it no matter what but gen 2

This is true. It is mainly a Gen 1 issue to get the check error message and very few Gen 2's will show the message. I'm not sure about the Gen 2's but on a Gen 1, even if the wire has been snipped to stop the error message, you can have a Gen 1 parked close to a garage door or something with a solid color to help you notice and you will see the lights come on fine. After a few seconds, you will see the left light dim and then the right will dim but it's only just a tad. This is what I would like to figure out how to stop.

If you're wire on your "1" isn't snipped, you will notice the lights dim one after the other and then the message will hit. Does anyone know how to solve the left to right dimming issue? Does this mean a relay harness is needed or could another wire be snipped on the lamp out module. All four of my HID's are bright but I do know they could be brighter.

Again, it is doubtful you will notice this at all unless the car is inside a garage or parked with a wall in front of it and you have to be watching for it. It happens within about 5 seconds after switching the headlight switch on "for the first time" within a 2 hour period. If they have already been on, it might not happen enough for you to notice. Car can be running or off and it will do it either way. My 94 done it and my 95 does it and my wire for any error message has been snipped.

If I have to make a video of this to show what I am talking about, I'll do so.

I'm glad to see someone else saying this. I could see maybe turning it on if you park outside and you need that extra light to make it to your door and trying to find the key to get in but running around in the daylight with no rain and the headlights burning for no reason just seems retarded to me.

I agree with both of you but I'm lazy I guess... I have autolamp on all 3 of my cars & all 3 of them are set at :30 sec autolamp mode. It's cool not to worry about forgetting to turn on your lights.

I also have another issue... I am currently ordering 2 sets of everything. One for my 97 & one for my 93. The switch on my 93 is not good. It's set to autolamp because all my interior lights turn off as soon as I touch the switch.

What cable do I need to snip on my 93?

lol i never forget to turn my lights on. If i look down and the guage cluster isnt lit up then they are off. If it is lit up and i cant see the road...the parking lights are on, so i give it one more good turn to the right. :p 9 times out of 10 when I turn the headlights on around dusk its strictly to have the cluster lit up for my safety and the headlights for others on the road..not so I can see the road. We have lots of street lights. lol

For sure. That sh!t irks the p!ss out of me. Every time i see someone riding around with their headlights on during the day (especially halogen) i think its a cop...and most of the time its a brand new econojunkbox.

There is no need whatsoever to have your headlights on during the day unless its raining. It causes more of a distraction then anything.

In my case the ONLY situation that autolamp would everrrrr be nice to use is if its during the day and im driving through a tunnel or an dark underpass.

Since I rarely am in that situation I dont use it, i suppose if I regularly drove on roads with lots of tunnels during the day it would definitely be nice to have.

Brown wire with light blue stripe. On the harness (once you have it out) the wire is on the corner of that harness that's connected to the lamp out module. Just cut it and stick the module back in and put the little bolt back in place and you're done. 1/4 inch ratchet with a 5/32's socket or 5/32's nut driver and some wire cutters are all you need.

Ok, when I install both kits on both cars I will definitely do this! Thanks dude!

Since my SCIL is probably damaged. I need to disable the "Check Head Lamp" message. I've got to disable it. I'm using a relay to light them up. They come on normally. I'm using resistors, but they aren't eliminating the message. Does anyone know if the wire to cut is the same as the Gen 1's?

Greg, I think it is the same color but not positive. You'll just have to take out the one bolt and drop the module down. Takes a minute and if nothing is in the glove compartment, just lower it out of the way and the bolt is right beside the latch. Loosen bolt and mine was forever long for some odd reason but once it's out, just look for that brown wire with a blue stripe. It will be on the corner on the module. A group of wires are going in one end of it. the wire you need is on the corner of the group. Also, cutting this wire will not stop the car from telling you that you have a brake light out or blinker out. It still gives those messages.

Well, I needed to replace my ailing 5000K HID upgrade kit. So I ordered the 55w ballast, 4700k bulb with an Error code Eliminator, $55. shipped from DDM Tuning on 6/20. I'm anxious to get this system installed but its been a long wait.Yes, the web site says that I should expect 7 to 10 business days for delivery. Its coming from China so Today is the 10th day and I hope It shows up at my front door soon. aaargh!

Waiting sux!
