performance on a v8 ls

Not when you consider the LSes intended demographic.

The average LS owner demographic goes out the window when you are referring to the enthusiasts on a site like this. In addition to that, demographic has no direct correlation to foresight and vision when approaching the modification of cars.

right - it was true 5 years ago - now we have most things.... and most people (even those complaining for lack of parts) never purchase or use them

makes those of us who actually do the mods look that much better! The best part of having any kind of go in these is the sleeper effect! I love wasting punks with their v6 stangs thinking they are all that with thier bimbo highschool cheerleader girlfriends sitting next to em. The best ever was the guido in his fox body with the mr t starter set that thought hed be smart and try to show off. The look on his face when we both pulled into the car show and he hadnt made any ground on me was priceless!!!!!!!!!

Just be thankful the LS has ANY mods...I love what has been done so far and there's plenty more to come.

Diddo...I assume these were bad drivers but back when I had just bout my LS with everything still stock I was able to outrace a few Mustang GT, Chargers R/T, and Audi TTs on local street races (for fun)......Maybe I was going against ppl who can't drive those cars? Or I bout a very fun car :-D.....

I love how ppl underestimate a Lincoln......

2nd gen or 1st gen both get about the same from cai, tune, and exhaust. but he has an 02... so the throttle by wire isnt an issue. i know of one tuner that makes 1st gear launch in sst.... what a friggin difference for the first gens!!!!!!!!

What turner do you speak of?
I have a 1st gen and would love to access first gear in SST. That would also help with my decision in getting the 3.58 gears with an LSD installed. I’ve heard that the 3.58 gears won’t make a difference but won’t it help with the low end but won’t getting into 1st gear help with that as well???

could go for a SCT but I haven't researched the threads yet if anything should be first done to your car beforehand installation....

I don't think anything really needs to be done before you upload the files from the SCT programmar. All I had done mod wise was exhaust and intake. I love my SCT Xcal 3! It helped with gas and made my car loads of fun to drive! :D

THats' what I hope to get accomplished...I wanna get the computer to not be a spas by getting the Xcal 3.....

...btw how much the Xcal 3 w/ programs cost ya?

I order my Xcal 3 unit from Torrie at Fastpartsnetwork and it came with 3 files. I've only uploaded two out of the three (first better gas mileage and better performance, second which I'm using now better gas mileage, better performance and firmer shifts). Haven't messed with the third file yet but after/if I get those gears and the LSD I'll talk with ILLS about at tune if offers. The damn IRS is taking forever with MY money!!!

first off.... ILLS can.

Second, 3.58 with LSd is a waste. just do the lsd or do a 8.8 swap. there will be a difference in the gears, but IMO its not worth the time and money

tuner is person who does tuning. Programmer is the device. No you dont need to do anything to your car before uploading a tune.

OK first mistake is falling for the most common marketing trick from tuners. There is no way to program a car for fuel milage vs power. the bottom line is you make the car run more efficient. That gives more power and more economy. Then you can play with the timing for even more power.... but the two styles of tuning are the same!!!!! Dont bother with gears, get a big boy tune! I have some info for those interested that will make you think about tuning differently!!!! PM me if interested.

I agree 3.58s over 3.31s will be hardly noticeable at all. That said if you are going to add a LSD why not start with a 3.58 diff since they are around and can be had cheap. Just don't expect much impact acceleration.

4.10s are very noticeable, may even 4.30 mine.

^^^ Also knows what I do

As far as aftermarket is concerned I think that people who complain about a lack of aftermarket really mean a lack of cheap bolt-on aftermarket. The primary word being cheap.

A good machine-shop can manufacture just about anything you can imagine. The question is are you willing to do the R&D and pay for it? Kudos to guys like Quik, ILLS, and Cammerfe for going above and beyond.

really?
- big brake kit are all the same price on any car
- ss brakelines - same price
- springs / shocks - same price
- N20 - same price
- intake - same price
- mufflers, tips, x-pipe - same price
- turbos, superchargers - roughly the same price

what cheap bolt-ons are you talking about? stickers are the same price no matter what car....
