Here there and everywhere
Noticed something today, when I hit the button to shut overdrive off no light comes on. What could be wrong? I'm hoping it's nothing big, I just got the car going after close to a year of finding parts, and pulling the frame out.

When you turn the idnition, all of lights including OD should come on for at least a second. If it doesn't, it could be the bulb.

Most importantly, make sure the car shifts from 4-3 when you press the switch.

Good luck!

Alright, I'll take it out later today get it up to 50 or so what should the rpm's be around 50? I do believe it does shift into 4th, every time I come around the one corner by the house the rpm's are around 1,000 and it drops in 3rd I'm guessing to pull the hill.

Go up to 50, and press the switch, it should go into 3rd from 4th and you will see the RPMs go up 400-500 RPM or so and notice a gear change.

my 95's od button would never turn the od off, i am guessing it was frayed wires going to the switch, guessing that's your problem also.

If that is the problem, then I'm sure somebody here can point me in the right direction of the wires. But I did not get a chance to take it out today, had to change the transmission fluid on the Mountaineer, and then help get a 67 fastback mustang in primer. Will take it out tomorrow and update this thread, I hope!

But for Heaven's sake don't take out that damn airbag light! The computer will drive you frakkin crazy with its incessant beeping! :D

What airbags?:shifty:

Anyway took it out and it will not shift out of overdrive when the button is pushed, guess there's a wire busted. I'll pull it apart in a week or two, I was just hoping it was the light I like to turn off O/D pulling mountains!

I have the same problem with the OD button, no light comes on and it does not drop down a gear when pressed, I'll check my wires too, thanks guys. Not so quick question though, when i bought my 93, the trans. would kick itself out of OD and into neutral while driving, so i let off gas until it would catch a gear, changed fluid and filter and so on, i drove it like that for 2 years until it finally gave out, i got another transmission from everdive three weeks ago, installed it and it does the same d*@n thing, i changed the trans. speed sensor, intake air temperature sensor, PCM, still no luck you drive along at 50 or 60 then kicks out of 4th into a neutral state, rpm's jump from 1700 or so to 3500.... any ideas?

Oh. That sucks. Sorry mang.

Thanks, it wasn't that hard to pull out. Just needed alot of parts, some of which I still need but will worry about them later. Bad thing is after seeing what some of you guys paid for your cars I really overpaid, but there is a limited supply around here, and the interior, and doors back were in really good shape. But a deer on deer wreck shouldn't hurt nothing.:D

Broken wires it was, can somebody point me in the direction of Jamie's post about relocating the O/D button? I searched all the way back to 2009 and either I missed it or didn't use the right search term.

What I'm wondering is this. Could I just get a push button toggle switch and rewire it, and move it to a different spot? I don't like stealerships, and my brother who works the parts department at FORD will not give me a good price on anything! He says you bought, I told you not to buy that piece of :q:q:q:q.

93blueonblue found a article on how to wire it into the traction control button dunno where he found it though

That would come in handy, wiring it to that one. I might just pick up a button toggle switch and give it a try, what's the worst that could happen?:D
