Got back from North Carolina. Started putting the LS back together. What you guys think without the chrome?

So glad to have my McLaren grille back on. I like it a lot more then the painted OEM grille. Major upgrade.

Looks krispy and I love that color. You're tempting me to get my grill and surround painted instead of getting the trans looked at this Friday, but I'm smarter than the average bear.

Much better. I've never cared for the chrome on the bumper. The only place I can deal with it is around the grille and around the rear tag. Mclaren grille is high on my list. I just think it might look a little funny on a black car with chrome around the grille.

I really liked your car as it was. But I love the way it looks now. :D

I like this better...I am not a fan of chrome on the bumpers. Your previous combo looked good though since you have candy apple red with chrome wheels.

This was my first thought too! WAAAY better!!!

Yours was one of the only LS's that I didn't mind the chrome on just because its more of a flashy show car.

What he said^ I thought the chrome was a good look on yours.
Still lookin clean tho!

Looks great. I think that it would be impossible to make your car look bad.

looks good, im not a big fan of too much chrome, you ever consider getting rid of the reflectors on the front bumper?

are you talking about the parking lights? if so, removing those can be a bit tricky with the laws and stuff.

exactly, i think the 1st gen strip is just way too big, especially on a dark car, it kinda cuts the car in two.

didnt know they were lights, probably because mine didnt have them when i bought it, but i still like the look without them and i can't imagine someone getting pulled over for not having them although i could see how it would be tricky to just remove them

Your car was the only car that the chrome wasn't downright hideous on.

But painting it makes it look just that much better.

Looks great! It's a little weird looking at your car without chrome, but I like!

Wow big improvement! Looks way better ever think of blacking out the chrome around the windows with some black vinyl??

Looks like the car lost a few pounds. I like it!

The chrome used to make the car seem bulky.

The chrome balanced well with your wheels. This also looks good though, since your car is red it looks cleaner.

I love how the fad for a while was absolutely no chrome anywhere and now you see it creeping back into styling, especially on higher end European vehicles. It all depends on the quantity of chrome and the color of the vehicle. While most LS's look better without it, I've chosen to keep mine on the bumpers as I think it would look cheaper if painted. The shape and design is slightly different on 1st gen chrome vs non chrome bumpers and the factory painted is nicer than a chrome converted to paint since it has less seams. 2nd gen or LSE looks nicer without it (but with that touch of chrome around the lower grill).
