Now shes leaking oil :(

Just my luck - I move her out of the garage today to see a small puddle (probably 2 tablespoons worth) and a couple drips as I backed up of oil. Under the hood gave off the slight smell of burning oil... Now what :(

Wahhhhhhhhh!!

Im going to take her to Ford for the CC recall, and get an estimate on the Front end, and Oil leak - then see what I can do myself, or have a friend do.

Im thinking it might be best to sell her since I can probably get atleast my 2k back, and maybe some more, then buy a black on black

all the little things that are wrong with your car are minor things that require a little bit of TLC. you have a Great looking car.
it seems like nothing major is wrong with your Mark.
just my 2 cents worth.
 
It maybe his best option though. Due to the fact most of these repairs are going to be expensive through a mechanic. Cheap if you do them all youself. From his prior posts I think he's not the most mechanically inclined person. Just my 2 cents.

See this is my thought initially - but Minor to everyone else is a hassle to me.. I mean, id love to learn to be handy enough to fix this :q:q:q:q myself.. just dont even know where to begin :(

Id ideally keep the green, and do a black interior since thats what I really want :)

Well, Im very smart, and when I mess with stuff I figure it out pretty easily, but Im slightly Intimated by pulling apart a car u know?
 
If he takes his time, and has a working brain, and some tools....and thumbs...what can't he learn on here?
 
rule of thumb #1: never go to a dealer for work unless its a last resort. or a recall...

find a local mechanic at a service station you trust to do some of this work for you. buy quality parts from any place other than the stealership unless OEM parts are the best option. they WILL rape you on prices for labor and parts, and wont even give you any vaseline.
 
Speaking of stealership. My buddy has a 660 raptor and brove the swing arm bolt. It was something like 60 bucks. When I asked if it came with lube at that price? he replied Maybe thats why the original broke I should lube it!:slam I guess it went over his head.

If you have the motivation keep it.

I got time, a 153 IQ, thumbs... well, I can pick up some tools LOL.

I was going to do an oil change this week along with change the plugs, since the oil although Mileage wise is "young" its def a few years old (sitting in a garage and only driven ocassionally). So I guess instead Ill lift the car up and go hunting with a flashlight - What are the most likely places to leak? Im guessing this happened from bringing it up around 6500 too many times :(
 
Why would you bring it up to 6500 RPM even one time? The car has probably been babied by its previous owner and never saw 6500 RPM. It's a stock 13 year old engine. Not a race car. Be nice to it and it should be nice to you.:D
 
Front main seal and the majorly common one is the oil/coolant gasket behind the power steering pump...use search keyword "Sapperfires" and you'll see a pic in there of the gasket, it's kinda a pain to get to for a beginner, but it's all just angles of wrench and size of bolts
 
The oil filter adapter gasket. The pan, the rear main. If it's the oil filter adapter prepare to learn new dirty words. ;)

Yeah... Kinda retarded... Was used to driving a 5.0 so I expected it to shift when I wanted it to.. not have it stop, put down its coffee, then shift :(

The drip does look like its more towards the front of the engine rather then the back

Also a cheap alternative is that it could be the pressure switch in that same area. If you do the gasket do the switch at the same time and get the fomoco on not the cheapy.

If someone can snag some hi-res pics like Sapperfire had of the places I should be checking that would kick A**!!!

I am still going to bring it in Saturday for the recall and inspection - hopefully they tell me exactly whats wrong and I can handle it myself.
 
You may or may not have an oil leak but you definatly have a power steering leak. Teflon bushing is prolly shot. Man that car is nasty grimey under neath. :(
 
Oil filter Adapter is an easy job, if you can change the oil and have a few extensions you can do it yourself. Fly me down there, I'll do it for free! :-D

Dont sell it unless it's a lemon. Those are all problems your going to see on every mark (eventually) just do it your self and know that it wont have to be done again for a vary long time.

Hahah No, 4.6 said it was something near the oil filter and to check sapps for a photo - so I asked if this was it - so when I get under there I have a clue.


Question, how the FUGG am I supposed to do any of this without a car lift!??!?!
 
I'd spray the grime away and then keep a check on it and see exactly where it's coming from but it sorta looks like the oil filter adapter gasket needs to be changed and then again, it does look kinda like PS fluid. Wash it off under there and inspect every few hours until you find it.

That offer up above is a good one. He might even swap the wheels for you too.

Floor jack!
 
jack stands. a good floor jack helps a lot too. get a stump or cinder blocks for safety. dont forget to shut off your air ride switch.
